Singapore-based Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) is well-known for being the first blockchain platform that allows celebrities to utilize their fame and “tokenize” it. The digital currency can then be redeemed by fans for exclusive offers and promotions that might involve PPVs or meet-and-greets.
The latest celebrity to sign on is Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, a former No.1 female tennis player in the world, who holds the distinction of winning 30 WTA singles titles. Although she has been playing tennis professionally since 2005, she has remained an all-star and currently holds the No. 3 WTA ranking in the world currently. She also makes history with the blockchain-powered move and recognizes it, stating, “to be the first female athlete to have her own token is really cool…” (source). This announcement follows the news that Manny Pacquiao, politician and former champion boxer, has invested in GCOX and also plans on launching his own token.
