Alt season approaching?

Hello steemians!

So yesterday after a long and exhausting journey, I was able to get to my destination at around 3pm.

Ill be here in Osun state, west of Nigeria for the next 5-6 months and while I won't be enjoying it all the way, I'll have to make do with the situation.

Yesterday in the evening, someone dropped this chart in a whatsapp group.

It shows the total market cap and chart of the top ten cryptocurrencies, except bitcoin.

Its no secret that whenever bitcoin starts a run up on its own, the rest of the cryptos, aka the altcoins experience generally a dip in price as everyone runs into bitcoin to gain something.

However, through study of my own and supported by this chart now, Ive found out that if bitcoin is able to sustain its higher position for a while, traders then to pull out of bitcoin and start diversifying their portfolio, leading to a phenomenon known as alt season. A period of time in which alt coins move tremendously up in price and value.

For the top 50 cryptocurrencies, I'm betting on ETC, ETH to go up immensely, mainly due to their connections with coinbase.

I could also bet on the coins that are being "considered" by coinbase, though some of them may likely not be added. If I were to buy and hold any, I think I would be holding "BAT" and "Stellar lumens".

Two other coins to watch out for would be "EOS" and "ONT"

I'm a believer that most cryptocurrencies are thrash until they prove their worth or use case.

Thats why I dee steem shining, its a unique coin which runs on a DPOS system, integrates blogging and social interactions to its system, and coming up with community-minded token creation system, SMTs, which when launched will have a base of already 1m users.

Alt season might be approaching and infact im already preparing for it.

The alt market has been down for approximately a week or so now, while bitcoin has successfully run up from its $5800 low to $8200, a whooping $2000+ profit.

While of cause we still have bitmex, shorters and futures to worry about, its a matter of observing the market and seeing how things go, if the shorters and bears are able to take control again, we may have a few months of slow downward sliding.

The painful thing about this is that alts will drop below their previous lows if they havent run up by then.

Throughout this year, bitcoin has slowly gained back its dominance, while alts have suffered brutal declines, not catching the rise up, and slip more into lower and lower values.

Steem has been hit very hard, as its lost a lot of market cap, normally we should be seeing steem at sround $2-2.5 right now, with market cap being $600m or so, but steem has consistently lost its position on the table, dropping from a top 20 high and now sitting at 37 on the table.

This may be attributed to the launch of EOS, but thats another topic for another day.

Will alts move up? or will btc come crashing and sending alts into even deeper dips?
That seems to be the golden question now

Thanks

Really insightful boss.. The alts are actually doing a reverse with the current trend right now. Hopefully they'll pick up soon. I'm optimistic the year end will put a smile on our faces.

Very well bro, getting into good positions is what matters now, especially those that coinbase has called out, and of cause steem

Great post bro. The FUD in the market is currently high. Nonetheless, it is a necessary factor for a potential bull run. There are lots of speculations now due to many facts that points towards a repetition of last year's October/November bullish run.

With that in view, I'm optimistic that BTC will rise tremendously irrespective of the few negative news in the media. And when it rises, it will take the alts with it. This is a good time to HODL and buy more, because the bulls are taking over soon.

Meanwhile, I'll love to join your steemit Nigeria whatsapp community.
Good piece once again.

Theres no single steemit Nigeria group , there are like 50, each associated with a project or community , its fascinating, like really crazy.

Ping me on discord lemme add you to the ones i can

Thanks bro... Is this your username on discord too

yes it is, im in almost all the groups, just @ mention me

The cycle seems to have turned back upward, though we may still be near bottom. The pattern then is that when BTC goes on a run, it sucks money out from the rest of this sector, separating BTC from alts. Alts should start going up again when outside money comes into crypto. Beyond that, it's whatever the crypto mafia decides should rise or fall in the short term, so buy the currencies that have enormous use cases, since others are worthless. Longer term (one year, perhaps) we should expect better infrastructure in this sector and a lot more institutional money coming in.

I agree; STEEM is a huge buy and much undervalued. Development seems to take forever, but if the market truly priced in what is coming, we should be sitting on a minimum of $10 right now. The advantage of having no marketing is that STEEM remains affordable for those of us who believe there's nothing else in crypto that will touch the modular monetization that STEEM will soon be able to offer via SMTs and other tools. Meanwhile, others still need to struggle with the governance and scalability holes they have dug for themselves; there's no free lunch.

Ahh, yes I agree, steem is way too undervalued , and that might be taking some people away from it.

I currently trying to hold a minimum of 500 steem, once im done dealing with these my issues, im hoping to prop it up back to 1000 where it was before.

Crypto general is a new wave that I know will change the world , steem playing its own part.

Thanks for the encouragement sir Tom
