Facebook Relaxed Its Ban On Crypto Ads

in crypto •  7 years ago

According to an announcement posted on Facebook by Rob Leathern, Product Management Director, the company will nuance its position towards crypto-related ads. At the beginning of the year, Facebook announced a "blanket ban" on all crypto ads, causing quite a bit of havoc for traders.

The new policy states that:

[...] starting June 26, we’ll be updating our policy to allow ads that promote cryptocurrency and related content from pre-approved advertisers. But we’ll continue to prohibit ads that promote binary options and initial coin offerings.

Advertisers who want to promote crypto-related products must submit an application and get whitelisted.

In my opinion, this is a much more profitable position, both for Facebook, which probably saw a relevant decline in revenue from the fintech niche (after they decided to ban all crypto-related ads), and for legit blockchain startups which could leverage now the huge audience that Facebook still offers.

The markets didn't react to this too much, there's still red across the entire spectrum.

It is definitely good news, although ICO's still seem to be banned according to what is published in Cointelegraph

I am not a fan or a user of Facebook, but for sure it know how to make money.

Some good news finally, which may stabilize the bear market.

That is a good news .

I believe that exactly is the way to go. Everyone gains from this. Buy why not ICOs?

Need more positive news...i see it beneficial in the long term

Great update from facebook finally crypto will be showing some good signs :)

Heard about that yesterday it was a well development for steemit if paradventure the ads on crypto will be freed on facebook....... A progression on the side of the coins market.

So the ban was lifted because of lost revenue!!

The next in line will be Twitter and the markets will react hours later. The bull run is coming soon...

Steemit is hunderd times better than faceboom. In my view, steemit providing the great plateform to enhance the knowledge and information. In facebook there is lot of copy paste material, but in steemit the real material is acceptable.

May be Facebook recognized that you can't stop the popularity of crypto and block chain. The way crypto is getting popular there is a huge chance that even FB will convert into blockchain for their survival @dragosroua

Start of good news, hopefully we will keep getting good news like this again.

They probably want both the revenue and to not seem like such hypocrites when they enter the crypto realm themselves. Also not get sued when they do.
