As announced, JSECoin launched their AdExchange today, en event I was waiting eagerly for, to be honest. If you don't know what JSECoin is, well, it's a token that you can mine with your browser (kinda like Coinhive, only legit, meaning it's fully Opt-In / Opt-Out). So, as a webmaster, you can put the JSECoin code in your website, and your visitors will mine the token for you while they are staying on your page. The CPU load is smaller than a video ad and the entire process is transparent, meaning the user can fully opt-out from the process.
As part of their roadmap, the guys behind JSECoin released today one of the most interesting concepts behind this, namely the ad exchange. What that means? Well, it means that, if you're hosting the JSECoin in your website, you can opt-in to display ads from third party advertisers. If you want, you can also choose to promote your services in other sites which are hosting the JSECoin code.
The most interesting thing in this entire story is that all happens via the JSECoin token. The advertiser pays for the space in JSECoin, and the publisher receives its gains in JSECoin also. In theory, that should create a lot of demand for the token and it's just one step closer to make JSECoin a contender for services like AdSense.
If you think "a contender for AdSense" is too big of a word, well, among the advertisers listed on the platform are names like eToro, Booking.com or Ali Express.
Below you can get a glimpse of how the ad exchange looks like:
Ads will not start rolling out until next week, all this time being used to tweak the code, give time to advertisers to load their campaigns and to test the entire mechanism.

I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards |
@dragosroua,
This might be a good idea! I have an adsense account but with their stupid rules it's hard to make money at all! So I wish this might gives a good solution for that case study!
Cheers~

Yeah, I saw that spike of JSE this morning. Must have something to do with the ad exchange going live. Since publishers will be paid in JSE, I suppose advertisers are getting tokens now, hence the buying pressure.

Don't know that, but I suppose no. It would be nice to be smart-contract based.

I can't imagine that the mining will stay as profitable as showing an ad.

Do you have to have the mining code in your website to use the jsec ads? I really like the idea of ads market based on crypto, not google megacorp. :D

Yes, I think that's how it's working. For the time you're showing ads the visitor doesn't mine and if you are not showing ads, then the visitor mines. At least, that's how I understand it.
I have the code on a couple of websites and I will know more in a week, once the whole thing starts to roll out.
