Blowing game economies wide open

FoldingCoin, the Stanford School of Medicine's blockchain project, is full of surprises.

I started mining Foldingcoin when I realised my pride and joy desktop computer was pitifully inadeqate for mining bitcoin. Sure, I tried a few others first - and lost a buck or two along the way chasing moon shots - but eventually I found my way to Stanford's folding@home project. In exchange for "mining" packets of research data one is rewarded with FoldingCoin (FLDC).

To be brutally honest, FLDC isn't worth that much, but if you are a crypto enthusiast like me that's not the point. Participation in projects is a big part of the fun. And with Folding@home you can participate in multiple projects, which is to say that other projects jump onto the FLDC blockchain and sometimes you can get additional rewards for mining. For example, the blockchain based trading game Spells of Genesis rewarded miners about a year ago with a rare trading card. I only realised I had one of these rare cards the other day while checking back through old wallets. It's worth a bit of money. So, since then I have worked out how to trade it via a Tokenly Swapbot.

But that's not all. By chance I discovered there is a new blockchain game raising funds. They're called Augmentors Game. It looks pretty cool.

Anyway, here's my swapbot. And check out Folding@home and the game dudes while you're at it :)

P.S. FoldingCoin will be halving soon.

Sounds pretty similar to Gridcoin.

I never did look into that one. What are your experiences of it?

Never realized folding @home went crypto I remember running this in my spare pc time back in the late nineties early 2000's.

I didn't know it existed pre-crypto!
