Gladius Development Update #8 (4/12)

in crypto •  7 years ago

Good afternoon! Welcome to our eighth bi-weekly development update! Every other Friday at 4PM EST we will be posting an overview of the progress we’ve made over the last two weeks. We’ve moved this from Thursday because of a change of our sprint cycle to conclude the sprint on Thursday rather than Wednesday. The next update will be on Friday, April 27th.

During the last sprint we focused on:

Keeping up with and managing the Gladius beta program
Porting our code to GoLang
Architecture and project planning

Gladius Beta Program

Over the last two weeks we’ve had over 150 beta testers come online, and have over 100 nodes running with our demo website. We found some fantastic community members to help us improve our install process, discover bugs and issues, and even contribute to the code!

We wanted to say thank you for all the support the Gladius Legion has been providing over these last few weeks, we look forward to including more people in the process as streamline our development of the beta.
GoLang

During the beta, one of the main issues the testers encountered was challenging installs on various platforms. To address this directly we thought it would be best to port our code sooner than later to a compiled language where we can better support systems directly.

We chose Go for its speed, easy cross compilation, and compatibility with the Ethereum ecosystem. You can check out our progress of the port on our Github here, see the develop branch for the most recent changes.

Once this port is complete, we’re planning to open the beta to more users and really test the scaling capabilities of our code.
Architecture and Planning

As mentioned before, we’re changing our sprint cycle to better suit these updates and our other team members at Kyokan. Within the next month, we’ll be drafting and publishing a more detailed development roadmap, a revised technical whitepaper, and updating some aspects of our website to better reflect our beta program and the direction of the project.
