Reports are out about an armed robbery in London on Jan. 22nd 2018 stating that a British virtual currency trader and his family were held at gunpoint and demanded he transfer his virtual currency known as Bitcoin to his wallet after tying up his wife and children.
A lot of other reporters are saying this is the first incident of a Bitcoin armed robbery but is it really? According to coindesk and other sources this is not the first of its kind. The article states that Ottawa police are looking for two suspects for an armed robbery of a Bitcoin exchange where four employees were held at gunpoint while a 5th employee managed to call the police . Now there is a Facebook post stating that the robbers were looking for physical cash but ended up leaving with wallets of ether instead. Now while these men were not looking for crypto currencies to steal that is what they ended up leaving with. As a crypto enthusiast and also investor , I'm amongst many who hope that this is not a growing trend in this community. This could be a detrimental Factor to not only the investor standpoint of this community , but also impedes the growth of the technology behind these coins.
