Introduction:
Dispute is unavoidable in any relationship as we human are of diverse opinion, believes and character. In the cause of settling these disputes, there have been many forms of solutions provided by many forms of government and organizations but yet, many cases remain unresolved and some of these provided solutions do not welcome cases that involve little money. These said existing solutions are even too expensive, hence are not affordable to many.
I'm happy to introduce to you KLEROS
a decentralized platform that takes care of the lapses of these said existing solutions.
KLEROS is a dispute resolution platform where the intending user have to opt-in.
KLEROS can handle any kind of dispute be it the ones that arises from E-commerce, Transport, Insurance or any other.
KLEROS uses Pinakion Token(PNK) as its incentive system.
It is a great dispute mechanism for both small businesses and also big businesses that usually have much dispute that they can't handle effectively by themselves.
It follows fast and transparent protocols to make decision in resolution of disputes.
Processes:
- When there is dispute to resolve, both party would create a smart contract and then select KLEROS as its adjudication protocol. This involves choosing the number of jurors, subcourt which is related to their dispute and then, the outcome. The surbcourts can be seen in the below image.
- KLEROS will then securely obtain all related evidences.
- It then through the help of crowdfunding which has access to a global pool of jurors draw a tribunal.
- The selected jurors then evaluate all the evidences and cast votes to produce a true decision.
*If one of the parties feels the decision reached is unfair, an appeal can be made. Twice the former jurors are provided for any appeal to ensure everyone gets the best justice and this process of course, increases the arbitration fees.
Privacy:
“Solving disputes may require parties to disclose privileged information with jurors. In order to prevent outside observers from accessing this information, the natural language contracts (English or other)
and the labels of the jurors voting options are not put on the blockchain.” Source and more information here WhitePaper, Page 4
Arbitration fees:
Jurors are compensated for their works through arbitration fees. The fees are also used in preventing attackers from spamming the system. So, when creating dispute or appealing, arbitration fees are required and the fees are determined by the subcourt in which the dispute is solved.
Incentives:
Jurors are incentivized with arbitration fee after ruling disputes and the incentive system is made in a way that Jurors can lose their tokens if their vote is not coherent with that of others. This is put in place to ensure honesty of the jurors when carrying out their work.
An example of KLEROS Use Case:
John from Italy orders a Laptop with his desired specification on a website owned by William in Australia. When the laptop delivers, it is not the specification John orders.
John contacts William but William tells him to manage the one he sent because he doesn’t have any laptop with his desired specification any more. John expresses his dissatisfaction but William stops answering. What else can John do?
If the order term have had it that KLEROS court should be used in case of any dispute, KLEROS would take up the case, select jurors that are highly knowlegable in Laptop technologies from around the world and ensure the problem is solved.
Conclusion:
KLEROS is a great dispute resolving platform for both small and big businesses. It operates on blockchain and gives opportunity to resolving dispute in a flexible way with fast, secure and true justice for all, no matter the amount involved or the location of the parties involved in the dispute.
