Introducing crypto to broader audiences
Yesterday, two of my friends (Raoul Brahim and @diegoameerali) did a presentation on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology at my local Rotary club. The room, which included at least 5 bank boardmembers/retired CEO's/Executives, was less hostile than expected, but did give some very critical sidenotes as well.
Crypto..what?
This brings me to today, were I'm on a quest to get referrals for Aethia. Aethia is based on the concept of Ehtergotchi, were you can own a tamagotchi that is worth some (a fraction of an) Ethereum. Of course, the more referrals, the better your Ethergotchi egg will be to start with. For those interested, my referral link is here > https://aethia.co/welcome/O56jCqh4Byuez0D5t9HPgEMiu6m41u71
Money talks
- To get back to the topic. One of the issues with cryptocurrencies is greed. We all want to make money. And when you get a revenue, only in rare cases you want it to become less.
- Another thing, the whole point of Bitcoin was to be able to pay eachother without a middleman. Unfortuantely, crypro exchanges (as great as they are) are middle men. Just to prove the concept doesn't really function as intended.
- Also, we also put us in a position to get the most out of it. Sometimes unintentionally. You don't want to be your own thief, so you can't only use crypto to make payments... well actually you can.
Good intentions
The first time I paid someone with crypto was a steemgig. The first time I donated with crypto was with Steem as well. So, it is definitely possible to use cryptocurrency the way it was intended. But why do I feel the urge to get referrals for an Ethereum based Tamagotchi? Why do you go the extra mile for 'free' (nothing is free on this world) Ethereum, even to the extend that I will be taking care of a Tamagotchi, petting and playing with it (I just realized this could become an interesting father-daugther activity).
Are we in crypto world going to far or is it just an acceptance that proves crypto is becoming more mainstream?
