The Block Day Out
When I woke up on Saturday morning, June 30th, I had no idea that I had a super fun Block Day Out ahead of me. I had ordered a free ticket via GUTS tickets for the book presentation of the Bitcoin Family. I thought what is more appropriate for my blog than ordering a ticket for an event via the blockchain and then meeting a family that lives entirely on Bitcoin? Must confess that it would be a hot day ... but I could not let this opportunity pass me by. So for the good cause, I sacrificed myself. Don't like reading? Watch the short video to get an impression of my adventures and to see how GUTS tickets works.
Ordering Blockchain tickets
To get to the event you had to order tickets. The tickets were for free, which Dutch people love, so me too. The tickets were provided via GUTS. GUTS is a Dutch blockchain company where you can safely buy tickets for events, because it is via the blockchain. The main advantage is that tickets can not be resold for super high rates. And if you want to resell your own ticket, because you can not attend for example, you can safely resell your ticket to someone else, who then also knows that they are buying a real ticket.
GUTS works via your mobile phone. With your telephone number you create an account. You will receive a code via SMS that gives access to your tickets. You can show the ticket on your telephone at the entrance and you can go inside. Wondering how this works? Watch the video above. Dutch artists such as Jochem Meijer, Guus Meeuwis and Yoep van 't Hek are already using GUTS for their shows, making a fist against the dishonest ticket trade.
Bitcoin Family
The ticket was in the pocket, so I headed for Hilversum to meet the Bitcoin Family. Upon arrival I saw the camper already, so it was clear where I should be. I immediately saw that the event was at Cryptotrader. I did not know they had organized it. A great opportunity to see what they do exactly.
The event was very relaxed, everyone had a chat with each other and enjoyed the warm sunshine ... although it was more sheltering for the hot sun. The Bitcoin Family ran around and not only they, but also their own family was present for the book presentation. It was all very laid back. Didi, the man of the camper gave a speech in which he explained how they became known as the Bitcoin Family. It was a very personal story that is mainly about getting everything out of life and doing what you want.
After the speech, the book "The Bitcoin Family" could be bought. There are only 50 of these first copy's, so I am very happy with my rare, signed one. In my vacation I will thoroughly read the book and I will write a review about it. But I can already say that if you also think about a life on the block, this book will be a good source of inspiration.
Dutch Crypto Women
Besides the speech from Didi, there was also a speech by Miranda from Dutch Crypto Women. She gave a speech about her life on the block. She too, has not been afraid to take the plunge into the deep, and she literally travels after her dreams. She also spoke about Dutch Crypto Women. This group was established because they noticed that women find it more comfortable to join other women in the crypto world. By starting a group, they hope that it becomes easier for women to get started in crypto. To be honest, I definitly can relate to this. Men's groups can sometimes be quite harsh and as a woman you sometimes see things pass by where you think: "Too much information." But to be honest, I also find it fun to see how men are together. And I've also learned a lot from men's groups, so you do not hear me complaining.
Cryptotrader
As I said earlier, the event turned out to be at Cryptotrader. I had heard of them before. They were also at the Verge / Tokenpay meetup in Amsterdam. They have an active YouTube channel and have a Livestream once a week, very nice to watch (it is in Dutch). After the event, I stayed a little longer to get to know them further. Can not say anything other than that I had a great time.
It was my second experience where I came to the conclusion that it is super fun to talk with other crypto / blockchain people. I do not know what it is, but you have something in common with each other I guess ... And it is also very instructive to hear what others are doing.
Cryptotrader is in an office together with Bitcoin Bootcamp and 2toCrypto. I also had a taste of the good crypto lifestyle. I ended up in a very nice car, went out to eat in Hilversum to finish at a festival in the middle of Hilversum. So I was like: "Huh, how did I get here?" Not really what I expected when I left my bed this morning. Super fun to end the day like this. And so you see everything in crypto is unpredictable. Cryptotrader, Bitcoin Bootcamp and 2toCrypto do all sorts of things. Cryptotrader is a hospitable platform for sharing information, knowledge and experience. Every Friday is open house and you can just walk in. Certainly something that I will try out soon.
Life on the block
After this day one thing is clear to me. Apparently you can live pretty well on the block. Now I only have to put it into practice myself. Step 1: Knowing that it is possible. Check. When it comes to a lifestyle I can not say anything other than this was a really fun, surprising, educational day. Worth missing a day of sun for. I met some nice people, learned a lot and just had a fun day out. I will keep you informed if I have something new planned.
