Earn sweatcoins by walking

Sweatcoin is an app that allows you to earn crypto while you walk. Doesn't sound bad, right? But is it worth the effort? Read the blog or watch the video to find out what you can earn with it and how it works.

How does it work?

In itself it's very simple, you download the Sweatcoin app and you start walking. Processing the steps into sweatcoins is an automatic proces. You can earn 1 sweatcoin (SWC) every day by watching a commercial video. There is a maximum amount you can earn per day. If you walk a lot you can upgrade the account, so you can earn more. For an upgrade, a small amount of SWC is withheld monthly.

What can you earn per day?

On a basic account (Mover) you can earn up to 6 sweatcoins per day, 5 by walking and 1 by watching a commercial video. For 1 sweatcoin you have to walk 1000 steps, so if you want the maximum amount of sweatcoin every day, you have to walk 5,000 steps. 1000 steps is about 700-800 meters, so you would have to walk 4 kilometers a day to earn 5 sweatcoins. In doing so, you have to take into account that these steps must be taken outside, because the calculation of steps is done partly on the basis of GPS. Inside, steps are not recorded. You should therefore walk outside for about 45 minutes if you walk at a normal pace.

View in the table below what you can earn with sweatcoin and how much you have to do for it. The income in the table includes the daily bonus of 1 SWC. The table is calculated based on the current value.

In theory, the value should increase if there is more demand, especially if sweatcoin is on an exchange. The more people that are going to walk the better this is for everyone. The question is whether the amount of sweatcoin per 1000 steps remains the same as more people use the app. The income from advertisements and any subsidies are also divided over the amount of users, so the more users, the less revenue per user. But on the other hand, the more users the more income from advertising. So whether a larger user group also means more income ...?

Convert to money

At the moment sweatcoin can not be traded on an exchange. This is the vision for the future. Through the app you can use sweatcoin to buy products or if you have 20,000 SWC you can convert this to 1000 dollars that you receive via paypal. 1 sweatcoin is currently worth about $ 0.05. If you earn sweatcoins every day according to the breaker account, you would have earned $ 1000 after more than 2.5 years. For this you must have walked 3 hours and 15 minutes every day. Another option to convert SWC into money is to invite many friends to the app, about 30. Then you get access to paypal vouchers with a lower value.

How can you be paid to walk?

Sweatcoin earns money through advertisers and companies that offer their products and services in the sweatcoin app. In addition, sweatcoin is also working on partnerships with healthcare, insurance companies and the government to encourage people to exercise more through the app. The income from this is distributed among the users of the app via the sweatcoins.

Disadvantages

The amount of steps you have made are not always converted into sweatcoins. In the app tips are given on how you can prevent steps from being left out. I once had a whole day of (outside) shopping with no steps converted into sweatcoins. I then adjusted some settings, so the steps are now counted again. Steps that you make inside will not be counted. Sweatcoin is working on a new algorithm (calculation system) that possibly also counts the steps inside. Then it will become a lot easier to get to the daily maximum.

Experiment

I was curious if the app could also be manipulated, so I came up with an experiment: walkbiking. A walkbike (Lopifit) is a bike that you walk on by means of a conveyor belt. Because you walk and through an electric drive you move forward. Since GPS also looks at where you are and what distance you travel, I wondered if the counted steps would go very fast or would not be counted at all, because the speed would be too high for a normal walking / running pace. Want to watch the experiment? Look at the video at the top.

It became clear that the steps are counted on the walkbike. The amount of steps you take and the distance you travel do not match each other. You walk in a fairly quiet pace, while you cover the distance of a fairly fast bike ride. In the end I had taken around 5,500 steps according to the sweatcoin app, while I traveled at least 16-20 kilometers, if not more. Apparently, the amount of steps weigh therefore heavier than the distance that the GPS measures. I have spent a total of 1.5 hours walkbiking, so in terms of time investment it is better to take a 45 minute walk outside. So you can also earn sweatcoins by bikewalking. Unfortunately, you do not earn sweatcoins faster than walking. I did not end up much richer, but then again it was a nice blockchain experience.

Conclusion

It is a nice app if you walk outside regularly. Especially suitable for people with a dog or runners. You only need space on your phone for the app and that's about it. So there's little reason not to just put it on your phone and earn something without noticing. It is a nice extra, but won't make you rich. I have earned about 50 SWC in one month = $ 2.50. I'm not super active with walking outside, so a higher result should certainly be feasible. Despite the fact that the income is not high, it does stimulate more exercise. Sweatcoin provides a positive contribution to health. So that is also a good reason to use the app. I have the app on my phone and I don't mind keeping it on there.

Where can you find the app?
