Which coin will win?

##Bitcoin's Potentional Doom

I'm just recent getting into the crypto scene. My gaming computer originally built to play VR games now also makes about $10 a week. Cool. But, I've been thinking about cryptocurrencies becoming mainstream and what that will take. Bitcoin is the biggest probably just because its first and has the public's mindshare. Bitcoin's 3 transactions a second is a real problem huge problem. The blockhain being a ledger of all transactions ever is basically just a file kept in sync. Ever growing. Even if bitcoin could do better than 10,000 transactions a second, the size of the ledger would explode. Transactions costs are a pain too, but I think they are just a side effect of the slow TX/minute issue; solve one you solve the other.
People are trying to fix Bitcoin by making forks into new currencies. Rats jumping ship to the next boat? I suppose that could work if most people are willing to switch to the new one. BCH looks like its doing ok, better than Ethereum so far. depreciating money has happened too. The crypto side just lacks the centralized oracle to declare the old coins dead.

##A whole different coin?

There is a lot of activity on Ethereum. I even would love to make a Dapp that runs on it. Running code ontop of a blockchain seems absolutely amazing. Leeroy and cryptokitties a neat. However there is some reason the file loaded into memory continuously gets larger. The white paper is optimistic about solving that in future. At least with multiple blocks a minute transactions sound like they would be able to process faster. Ethereum switching to staking sounds nice for electric conservation, but I haven't read into how the miner is choosen which gives me the hibigeebies.

##Altcoins

Hundreds. Really? At this point it seems like this tech was just a little too early. Now that we have this most functioning alpha technology running, the public has turned it into the financial wild west. Which in some was is pretty cool. This sorta reminds me of Blu-ray vs HD-DVD. Walmart may have decided that one. Wouldn't be surprised if Amazon chooses the victor this time.

TL;DR I think one coin, maybe one that hasn't been made yet, will rule them all.
