Why Do We Even Need Crypto❓❓

Hey everyone! No, this is not a "click bait" title.

Here is what I have been wondering:

Are Cryptos becoming just another Paypal?

I recently watched an interview with a prominent youtuber (who will remain unnamed) discussing crypto. The guest repeatedly brought up the concept of anonymity. I had always thought in the crypto space that the words , anonymous and decentralized would always go hand in hand. Like, Zcash, Dash, Monero.

This got me thinking,

• Are most crypto enthusiasts not very concerned with peer to peer anonymous transactions?

• Are most crypto enthusiasts just wanting an alternative to Paypal?

• Is the crypto world more concerned with "Smart Contracts" and "Digitizing Assets?"

As of late, I have noticed more governments getting involved in this space, as well as cryptos focused on working with various governments on their projects(Veritaseum).

In the US, we are now having to keep track of crypto transactions for tax purposes, peer to peer or not.

While crypto currency is often touted as a way to circumvent the banking system, and all that comes with it,

...is this really the case???
