Schrodinger's Blockfolio

in crypto •  7 years ago  (edited)

I've talked before about my affair with Blockfolio. It's a great app to track and manage a crypto portfolio. In fact, sometimes I think I'm a bit insane as I monitor over 40 coins. The scrolling never ends....
This is a funny take on the app but for all new people reading this, I am very serious when I say that this app is a must if you are interested in crypto.

Blockfolio is great because you can do two things with it:

  • Introduce [ manually ] all your transactions and see how they evolve over time. Blockfolio will always display the TOTAL value of your coins in btc and usd. That's what I call THE BIG NUMBER IN THE LEFT,
  • Set alarms for certain prices. So you know when to sell. Or when to buy. Or when to cry...You can set the alarm to one time and persistent. I like persistent because I like to wake up with 10000 notifications on my phone. It makes me feel important!

If you are still looking for a great crypto portofolio-manager, this might signal the end of your wait. As I talked about in a previous post, though, it can be rather addictive. Always refreshing to see how those shiny, digital, impossibly moody coins are doing. It's almost as good as a fidget spinner to me. I am not sure why it matters as I don't really trade but I NEED TO KNOW!!.

One day, Blockfolio's servers were down and it would not load. I was in no-man's land and had no clue what the coins were doing. Did they pump, did they drop? Who knew. ANYTHING could have happened.
That's when I came up with this concepts: Schrodinger's Blockfolio.

You probably know about Schrodinger's Cat. A thought experiment designed by Schrodinger's to explain the quantum superposition. This cat is both dead and alive until someone looks in the box and observes it. Then the cat is 100% dead...or alive.
Well, I play this god-like game every day with my Blockfolio app.

Both + and -....

I wake up, I open the app and in those few seconds until it loads, until the Big Number displays, my number is both BIG and0 ZERO. The question is:

Are you RICH?!
or
Are you BROKE?!

Then Blockfolio opens and you collapse the reality. The number shines with confidence and you can move on to scrolling.
No one can say that this crypto game is not an adrenaline-fueled insanity :)
I hope today was good for your portfolio. And tomorrow, we play again!!

PS: It's weekend. Have fun and don't think too much about them coins! I'll try to follow my own advice :)

I use blockfolio when I'm on my phone.

I also use https://www.cryptocompare.com/portfolio/ on the PC.
It shows lots of data and analysis. Check it out!

it's awesome!

Nice post. Upvoted.

Although I do question the understanding of Schrodinger's cat.

:))

I use both cryptocompare and blockfolio.

Blockfolio for an overview and cryptocompare to see individual trades im in, plus the analysis and pie charts :P

I am a complete newbie in this world of crypto money stuff, but your post put me into action mode. I downloaded the app and check the steem and dash, the currency that i have gut feelings about. You were right is addictive :D

:)) watch out but so glad you were motivated :)

I would be lost without it!

right?!?1 I was out of battery for a day....the anxiety was REAL

I can imagine, I get that with no phone syndrome!

I use blockfolio on all my mobile devices. Can't live without it.

oh yeah i love blockfolio

we can't help it :D

im using blockfolio for my long term bags mostly , the future seems freaking awesome! :D havent tried Schrodinger's folio , ill give a try to see whats going on !

hahaha.
remember, this is just my way of looking at things :)

So glad I'm not the only one. Sometimes I delay looking on purpose for awhile so I can enjoy living in self-induced ignorant bliss and try to choose the most opportune moment for collapsing that wave form to the dimension of my choosing.

haha. love this comment and SO TRUE!!!

I use cryptocompare. Didn't know about blockfolio. I'll check it out. I like the idea of setting price alerts. Also, I can certainly relate to being an addict. I check my portfolio constantly during the day. And I don't ever sleep through the night without checking it at least a couple of times. Every time my account balance makes new highs I get a little closer to being a full time trader/ investor. Good luck to you and all fellow crypto maniacs.

:))) that sounds very unhealthy!! crypto will be here tomorrow...
..
.
.
i think? :D

Here here lol! I too, am fast becoming a Crypto maniac!

maniacs unite!!

Steemit appears to be the maniac meeting place!

amen to that!

I was thinking of writing a post about blockfolio. You did a fantastic job! Better than I ever could. I trade almost everyday, this app is a must! Thanks for sharing.

Don't let this stop you! We need a lot of help to spread the knowledge :)

I literally contracted insomnia from this post.

:))))))))

Salut Razvan. I use the cryptocompare.com portfolio feature. Are there any advantages towards blockfolio ? I mean, besides the later having a native android app? I prefer the graph features on cryptocompare and being able to open everything up on a larger screen. I've installed blockfolio as well but didn't get round to add all the coins, like you I have quite a few different ones.
Mersi.

i heard cryptocompare is awesome too! I like the app yes but other than that....

deserve resteem and upvote....

Thanks for sharing, I did not know about what looks like a really cool app which I will check out further.
I have been sharing this info on something not widely known/talked about, crytpo related stocks. For me , just another opportunity to capitalize on this new and exciting paradigm.
The stocks I think, give that still large segment of people who are not ready to learn about crytpos and exchanges, but have been on the sidelines hearing about all the excitement and gains, the opportunity to get on board this earth shaking crypto move, but within their own comfort zone by simply buying a stock that is related to bitcoin.
Most of these people already have a stock account they know how to use and in this way can participate easily. There are very few crypto stocks so these are already starting to skyrocket just in the last couple of days but may present an very unique opportunity. As a warning, there is not really a ton of info about them so use risk capital only!
I have put some money into them in just the last 1-2 days, already up significantly which means they may skyrocket further, or pull back hard, I do not think anybody can predict. Dollar cost averaging is probably the best way to enter at this point as they are just moving so fast now and price points could be anywhere next week. Anyways, I thought I would share, fwiw.
Here is a link with some of the info on 2 of the stocks crypto stocks that I just put together for myself and others as a starting point for due diligence.

I already feel addicted to Blockfolio. Keep looking there way too often. But it's a great app, easy to use and great to keep track of your coins (and how much they are worth)!

Is it free?

100%

Thanks for sharing. I will check this site out.

thanks for sharing ...which app shows you which crypto that will go to them moon over the next 12 months? (that was a wish) ....I want that one !

Pretty cool! Have you tried CoinTracker? It allows you to track the price of coins but also enabled automatic syncing across your favorite exchanges and wallets so that you can live track your actual portfolio without having to manually enter every transaction.

@razvanelulmarin this is amazing man!!!!

I've seen you do very good post congratulations, follow me and help me please

Have you tried coinpayments.net?

ok, so this sold me on downloading the app - yet I'm fucking clueless on how to input the number of coins in any given asset.

you'd think this would be straightforward and intuitive, yet it seems completely elusive. and oddly, there is no support section, FAQ, or anywhere that says how.

am I missing something so ridiculously obvious under my nose, or what is the secret to inputting the number of tokens in any given asset to complete the portfolio info?

Haha!
I'm glad I did, welcome to manic territory!!

So in the right corner you have a " + " sign. Click on that.
Select coin: here you'll find ALL coins. Search yours, let's say "steem"
Then you select exchange
and then you have 3 options:
buy/sell/watch only.
If you click "buy" you'll see that it says how much is "current price" or you can enter the "trade price" you bought at and the quantity.
Then you click "save"!

If yoiu just want to monitor a price but not your holdings select "watch only".

I hope this helps!!

hmm... does seem weird to have to enter the "buy" amount at a certain price, rather than just input how much you have (accumulated over months).

nonetheless, seems to have worked.

I kinda like the simplicity of the CoinCap app in this regard - although the charts in Blockfolio are definitely way better.

thanks!

...

and update...

Got it all setup. YUP. Blockfolio is dope. :-D

you're welcome :)

Thinking is too advanced, as an ordinary person, I do not understand.
