The internet makes it easier for the general public to follow the history and development of cryptocurrency. This is especially true in the mining community where most users are not active on Reddit and Twitter. A digital currency is a currency that can be acquired using either digital (i.e. bitcoins) or physical (i.e. gold and other physical currencies).
One site said they were banned because YouTube is 'swinging the ban axe' on so-called 'disruptive and illegal' video services. why Bitcoin and crypto was singled out, nor does it mention any attempts to censor YouTube channels associated with Bitcoin. Maybe it's because the vast majority of Bitcoin/crypto YouTube channels only have a few thousand subscribers, and the average users have zero knowledge of cryptocurrency at all. A couple of Bitcoin YouTube channels in particular do more than they are allowed to.
In recent years, Google-owned video-sharing platform YouTube deleted and banned an array of cryptocurrency-related channels. The platform’s policy has driven cryptocurrency enthusiasts to look for decentralized alternatives to YouTube, which allow users to skirt censorship and even incentivize them with their own tokens.
The point of banning channels wasn't to block financial transactions between those making or using Bitcoin but to raise the negative public perception of Bitcoin and its underlying technology. The ban was intended to show off the takedown power of Google's "Content ID" content-detection technology and re-enforce the fact that users of Bitcoin are no different from other Bitcoin users.

Cryptocurrency enthusiasts might be interested in watching how using peer-to-peer technologies, like the peer-to-peer protocol Bitcoin, or exchange bitcoin like the U.S. dollar to his alternative currencies such as Litecoin. They could also use Bitcoin for one-time use as payment or to invest in small startups that are leveraging these tools to compete with larger media outlets such as Google and Facebook.

It seems like this has been happening for a few months now. I found an article from Forbes talking about how channels have been being deleted since December 2019. The Forbes article even talks about how Google is partnering with the banking group Citigroup. I didn't realize this was happening and I feel the two articles go well together.
