Again I'm going to talk a little about the most favorite of my cryptocurrencies; because it is possible that this year will reach 1 euro.
What is special about 1: 1? Well, it is a historic landmark reserved for the best. Bitcoin got it in 2 and a half years.
At the time of writing these lines, the Faircoin value is exactly 0.9 euros. And, as you know, it has a trick: the Faircoin's value is determined by the community. It is a stable value that is also based on the commitment that it never diminishes.
Trap! they say, those who only conceive the fickle reason of the speculative movement of the markets. Intelligence! I respond, knowing that this value resides in the vibrant power of a community that supports a real economy.
Determining the value of a currency and sustaining it requires not only daring but also understanding and measuring the economic reasons on which the calculation is based. Faircoin is a currency that can be used in real commercial exchanges, both online and in physical locations. That real market for goods and services is important. Most other cryptocurrencies can not even be used to buy and sell unless some trick or service (paid) is used to convert them on the flight in the currency accepted by the seller.
It is true that this currency is also traded in an Exchange and there its value orbits around the official price marked by the Fair.coop community, a little above or a little below. But it is hardly an irrelevant flow for the community itself that considers Faircoin its currency using it and even saving it as a treasure since, by its own scarcity, it is a coin destined to be increasingly stronger compared to those that are created and made circulate in such large quantities that they prevent their own value from increasing.
Faircoin is on its way to becoming what properly defines a currency:
Can be used to obtain goods or services.
It is acceptably stable.
It is used as a reference.
Regarding the last point Faircoin has not yet reached it fully. In fact, Faircoin refers to the Euro and not because the Euro has extraordinary qualities but because in the brain of most people has established the idea that everything has a value in Euros (and where I say Euros, I say Dollars also; or another reference currency). You can not easily think of the value of things or services in another reference than the one with which we have grown. And the use of the Euro, let's not fool ourselves, is ostentatiously far superior to the Faircoin.
However, I do not doubt that people who move through the Fair.coop ecosystem will reach that point at a time not too far away. Among other things because the Faircoin is not a currency that they have to withstand or that they have been taught to covet. Faircoin is for your community a beloved coin, as a creature conceived and desired; therefore, beloved. So the reference to the world, economically speaking, in Faircoin I do not think it is something nebulous, distant and unattainable.
It is possible that this year 1 Faircoin is equal to 1 Euro. In fact, I think it's pretty likely. It will be a historic landmark; one more proof that cryptocurrencies are here to stay. And, of course, some have a brighter future than others because of their value, their usefulness and because they contribute to making more and more people happy.
