What is the matter with Jamie Dimon?!

in crypto •  7 years ago

I swear, Jamie Dimon will soon reach meme status in any crypto community.

For those of you not in the know, Jamie Dimon is the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, one of the biggest, if not the biggest bank in America. And he hates Bitcoin. A lot.

A couple of weeks ago, you may have caught this guy saying that Bitcoin was a fraud. That came at a time when Bitcoin was barely reeling from the Chinese crypto shutdown news, so understandably, the market went down.

...Right on time for JPMorgan Chase to buy a lot of Bitcoin right after...

He then said he wouldn't speak any more of Bitcoin, ever. Lo and behold, however, just some 3 days ago, he came out again saying that anyone stupid enough to buy Bitcoin would pay the price in the future.

There are so many things wrong with that statement, I can barely begin putting it into words, goddamnit.

Normally, this is where I'd start a nice little article, going through every little point this guy makes, rebutting it calmly, etc. This time, however, I just have to say this. F*** you.

He makes good points about governments not taking well to this technology, as the Chinese and the Russians have proven. He also praises the blockchain technology, which is great. But he completely misses the point on so much other stuff!

Comparing it to tulips has been done a thousand times, always wrongly! He says cryptocurrencies are good but Bitcoin is not, which makes no fucking sense!

But saying that Bitcoin is great only for criminals and people in North Korea and Cuba... that just shows his ineptitude in the subject matter. Clearly, he has some investigation to do. Here's some recommended literature:

I could go on and in about this, but truth of the matter is, I'm tired, I've had a long day, and I couldn't care less what this guy thinks. Bitcoin has proven it's stability and vast potential. If JPMorgan will just pass this great opportunity on, that's their problem, and when they realize they've done so, I hope they turn towards the right culprit.

We'll see what our dear friend Jamie has to say then.

I am a billionaire with a lot of shares in Banks and I would really prefer if cryptocurrencies don't outcompete us on the free market... I'm happy to buy your silly upstart Jonnie-comelately cryptocurrencies in exchange for my US dollars that are backed by what's left of the US manufacturing industry plus Goldman Sachs and the finance industry (or equivalently, Goldman Sachs and the rest of the finance industry) because it's such a great deal and you keep giving me bitcoin that I will definitely fire my traders for buying and you will be rich enjoy my free money that is yours not mine, thankyou. I am a guy from your country so completely trustworthy. I mean I'm rich, how could I possibly not be trustworthy?!~
