Hydra protocol running on Testnet.
The team behind the project revealed that they had launched the Hydra protocol on the Cardano public test network. This means that the properties of the Layer 2 scaling solution can now be tested, which is a sign that the protocol is about to start. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson then went to Twitter to pay tribute to the team:
"I AM EXTREMELY LAD ON THE HYDRA TEAM FOR ACHIEVING THIS MILESTON. IT IS ONE OF THE FASTEST AND BEST PARTS OF APPLIED RESEARCH IN THE CARDANO ECOSYSTEM. "
The protocol was first created in 2020 and has since evolved into the Proof-of-Concept. Team member Sebastian Nagel revealed on the Slack team platform that the launch of Hydra Heads on the test network comes a year after he "read about Hydra for the first time."
Since the launch of the Alonzo hardware, which enabled intelligent contracts, Hydra has been the most anticipated protocol on the Cardano network. Since its scalability solution, Hydra is expected to increase TPS in the network to 1 million transactions per second. Asked about progress in developing the protocol in November, Hoskinson said the foundation was investing more resources in the project and noted that it would make it easier to handle the transaction volumes expected from DApps.
Strengthening security
The Hydra Consensus Algorithm would not execute a transaction if both parties did not agree. The feature is expected to enhance security, with a report by chief software engineer Matthias Benkort in February stating:
"AS A PARTICIPANT, I CANNOT LOSE MONEY WITH WHICH I EXPRESSLY AGREE. WHY? BECAUSE EVERY VALID TRANSACTION REQUIRES MY EXPRESS CONSENT. "
After completing the Hydra protocol, Cardano approaches the Basho phase.
Hoskinson also recently explained why not as many Dapps was added to Cardan's network as he expected. Many decentralized applications were waiting for Vasil's hard fork in June to benefit from pipelining.
Conclusion
Although Cardano has recently reached one milestone after another, the price of the ADA's native token does not seem to be rushing much upwards. Currently at $ 0.83, it is far from its high of $ 3.1.
