I'm So Done With Poloniex 😡 - What Exchange Should I Use Now?

in crypto •  7 years ago

Not only are they now holding my crypto in a transfer that they haven't executed, for five days, their customer service is also horrible. I've been annoyed on previous occations, when their site has been down. but this is just very upsetting.

Look at this bullshit. Five days ago? When I've already confirmed through email.

I've had a couple of issues with Poloniex in the past. But this time, they have outdone themselves.

I transfered some crypto to Coinbase. They usually send a confirmation emai, so I confirmed and waited.
Usually this is only taking a couple of hours, or less.

This time, the transaction didn't happen. It says "awaiting approval". It's done that for five days now.
And they answered my email with an answer with an automated answer to what they probably thought I was having issues with.

When I replied "did you even read my email?", I got no reply.

So Poloniex now has all my money and is not responding to me.
What echange should I switch to? Bittrex?

I am not fast, but I am furious.

Dont you want to try BitShares exchange?

Am I the only one without trouble? Haven't had one problem.

I am in the same boat. I have had no issues yet with poloniex but do have fear.

Have you tried withdrawing currency? I am tentative to deposit more than ~$2k for fear that it will get trapped like Suzanne here.
Your experience doing this would be good to hear!

But when you get a problem, there is little help to get from them.

go check out bitshares and their openledger platform. very similar security to steemit; decentralized exchange. volume isnt as big as others, but gets the job done. EOS should bring margin accounts

Well... Thanks for share all this. I'm still not in the point to start using exchange markets because I'm pretty new with the crypto thing... But it is good to know this king of things.

Hope everything goes OK with...

Good luck with all you crypto stuff :)

Yea. I hear ya. BUT guess what the 0.1002 BTC that was in pololimbo for over a month I got back last night as I slept. ^^

Hang in there it will come. I was looking to learn a new exchange myself.

I just want to cancel the withdrawl, but I can't even do that.

They will get to your support ticket soon.

Living in WA state I was forced off Poloniex! @susanne
I did some research I decided to give Bittrex a try.
Best Thing that Ever happened to me in the Crypto Space... :)

Yes, I heard that. Stupid.
Oh, well. Then I am going to give that a try.

Kraken is relatively secure

Check out Bittrex and Liqui

I will try Bittrex, but I've never heard about Liqui.

I have been using Bittrex for over a month now and I love it. Have not had one problem yet.

I third this. I started trading with polo but have had multiple problems because I don't have a static IP. It's annoying having to re-login a million times a day. On top of that it has been four weeks now and I still havn't gotten even level two verification much less level three which I applied for. So my daily withdrawal limit is still $2000

The only thing I use Polo for now is lending out my bitcoin to receive about 150k satoshi per day interest.

Bittrex has been good for me.

I would like to try kraken but I made a mistake entering my birthdate during verification and now I am unable to change it. Apparently I can't use their platform now.

the problem is scale. Most of these exchanges can't handle and weren't built for mass amounts of traffic coupled with a DDoS attack. Nor do they have the proper levels of staff to handle all of the inquiries. It is part of the risk of owning and keeping currency at an exchange. be patient.

I feel you because I am done with them as well
Disapproved an unauthorized transfer and still didn't get my funds and this since nearly 4 weeks

Oh my gosh, that is pretty bad. That gives me very little hope. I can't believe that they are getting away with this crap. It's people's money!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

I am still speechless, reported more than one complain ticket but it doesn't go anywhere and I have no idea when I get my Funds back for a withdrawl I never asked for. Somebody emptied out my BTC. I am more than furious. I can't get used to bittrex UI. It's madness!

Never had any problems with bittrex. :)

That's good to hear.

There seems to be exchange delays everywhere. Coinbase was off line for a while today.

Hmm. But I did a transfer after this one, and it went through.

All exchanges have been under intense pressure with the recent influx of customers. Most of them have failed at one point or another, and their customer service hasn't been able to keep up. It's infuriating, especially when it comes to money and if you're an active trader. The grass isn't much greener on the other side unfortunately, but all grass will get greener over time.

Yep, I get that. But I'm still furious. Ha ha. That's good to know.

I signed up for Poloniex but never used it. I have been using Bittrex with no complaints so far.

Sounds good to me!

Sorry you are having problems with Polo. I think it is a bad sign to be honest. When these exchanges start having all sorts of problems sometimes the wheels come off the bus sooner than later.
Maybe jump on Bittrex. I have been using the Steem Internal exchange to go from SBD to Steem. I haven't went from STEEM or SBD to BTC lately though. But I have accounts on Polo and Bittrex. Also you can try Blocktrades or Shapeshift

Yeah, it's not optimal. Not sure how I will get my money back. I agree. I will definitely look for something else. Blocktrades is probably a good idea too.

I hear bittrex is run by security experts.

That would be a good sign.

Holly molly your cap is super awesome.

And as for Polo, I never had a problem but we all heard some many people complain, I just feel I have been lucky at this point.

Thank you :) My friend made it for me.

I guess you have been lucky then. I've had some delays earlier, but this is just so annoying.

That is just horrible.

I use Poloniex, no problem yet...

But I'd suggest Cryptopia and Bittrex as alternatives.

Good luck!

I want my BTC :(
Bittrex is probably what I'm going for now.

I wish you better luck @susanne

Hope this helps in the future!

Same here! I switched to Bittrex and it's been working well :)

Hello mrs.steemit. What do you think of ETH hitting $400.00? They are close to taking over market cap from BTC

Hi @jetblake I think Ethereum has an insane potential and one huge advantage they have is all the different applications and tokens being launched on it. I think it's a matter of weeks, maybe a few months until ETH completely takes over. The history alone promises a lot, but I guess time will tell

Bittrex or livecoin maybe

I'm very happy with Bittrex.

Is not poloniex good? :(

It's been okay, but this is just horrible.

But the hat is so cool~:D

This really sucks to hear about!

Horrible. :(

what a disappointment... but for me, i have no choices to
use the other crypto exchange...
hope you to solve the problem well !

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

WAVES hast a built in DEX (decentralized) exchange within the wallet - but at the moment you can only trade BTC/WAVE and the tokes on the waveplatform. :)

I think it is not an only trouble in poloniex. Many people experience the similar case. It is a tough issue. Good Luck @susanne

I have been using Bittrex, so far, so good.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Bittrex & Kraken, although I haven't used Kraken, I have an account there. Do not put all your eggs in one basket, exchange. You're only setting yourself up for problems. Bittrex has a lot of coins Polo doesn't have too, Waves, Music, XVG, etc.

Which coins were you moving? I've never had problems moving $BTC.

Best of luck.

This is good to know, I'm a newbie and was looking at exchanges myself!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Welcome to crypto!

There are several other exchanges out there beyond the big 3, I just haven't used them so I don't mention them yet.

Don't panic at these flash crashes. They've been happening across exchanges because of the exploding growth everyone is experiencing, Coinbase, Poloniex, Kraken. I don't think Bittrex has had a major crash yet, but it could happen any day as more and more people are looking for other exchanges.

Always have your wallets outside of the exchanges as well.

Good point!

33% exchange
33% mobile wallet
33% offline cold storage paper wallet

Yeah, you should probably dodge that bullet.

I have Kraken for another currency. Seems to be working well. That's a good point :)

Works well for now, until they get busy days were they get super laggy or cannot even log in. Also, I really don't like how they increased the transfer fees for bitcoin lately. First multiply the bitcoin fee FIVE times, then after people complained, they dropped it to 2x. So now it's sitting at 0.001BTC, but who knows for how long...

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Yesterday I made a withdrawal of 8000 XRP from Poloniex in order to put it into my Gathub wallet but the withdrawal didn't go through and it showed this "Complete: Error" in withdrawal history so I submitted a support ticket but I'm worried how long it would take to solve the problem!!! I hope we get our coins back asap!

Gemini.com is one of my favorites. Quick verification, good customer service and they allow you to trade (in-platform) as soon as you purchase your BTC.

The problem with the big exchanges like Poloniex, Coinbase, Kraken is volume. As soon as they get a busy "bitcoin day", their systems get clogged and transfers get delayed. I've had withdrawals waiting a day before receiving the bloody email to confirm them. Not to forget the fact they get DDOS'd like a few weeks ago, which cost me dearly because I couldn't log on take some action during a big dip :(
One would consider using another exchange, but none of them offer most the altcoins that Poloniex does, so it's a trade-off.

I use btce and bittrex.

I like Poloniex so far.

For different reasons, I had to move my account. (They banned their WA State Users) I moved to Bittrex, I miss the feel of Poloniex UI, so I open it, and watch their charts and make my trades on Bittrex. LOL. I don't recommend it, but it is working for me.

Ha ha ha, that is also a way to do it. :)

Check this post out and let me know if this is a project you would be interested in https://steemit.com/crypto/@daudimitch/exchanges-continue-to-fail-during-peak-hours-traders-ponder-and-here-is-the-solution

They are overwhelmed with the new business. They cannot cope. Same over at Kraken. I am waiting 10 days now on a reply about Euro 5000 missing in la la land. I got a mail from their customer service saying they were too busy to answer at present .

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

I'm starting with Poloniex, and after reading this post I'm scared! :o Please @susanne, let us know which exchanger will you move to.

I don't like their trading platform. It's awful, even worse than Forex. You are destined to lose money on their fees and fake buy/sell walls.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Given the recent explosion of cryptocurrencies, customer service has taken a hit on a few sites. Coinbase is another site that is answering with automated messages that may or may not fix your problems. The sites just do not have the manpower to handle all the incoming messages, but that is still no excuse and with all that said I hope your problem is fixed soon.

Recommendation: Bittrex

fk polonix..use bitshares but u have to understand how to use it..otherwise you are fk... so get a professional to help u out...

I apologize on their behalf.
The truth is, you don't know what you'll meet on another platform... it might be worse.
But check out Bittrex & Liqui

5 days??? Unacceptable

A lot of people are having issues with them lately.
Bittrex exchange has worked well for me.

I recomend Bittrex.

Also have stake in limbo for 5 days now, sorry to hear you are having the same issue!
