Although most of the world is celebrating Christmas today, I'd first like to wish a very happy birthday to Byteball!
Most Steemians already know about Byteball and many have its wallet on their devices.
Blockless Blockchain?
Technology behind Byteball is sometimes referred as Blockless-Blockchain or Blockchain version 2. But in reality it's a blockchain-free cryptocurrency and uses DAG as its underlying technology.
DAG (called Tangles by IOTA) stands for Directed Acyclic Graph and unlike blockchains, it doesn't have any blocks or miners. Every user or node can verify transactions. So it's more decentralized, fast and scalable than a typical blockchain. So DAG is touted as the next generration of Blockchain technology.
However DAG technology is still very new but it is evolving fast. Other popular cryptocurrencies like IOTA, NANO etc. are also based on DAG technology and seems very promising.
This toddler is 2 y.o. now
Byteball network was launched with its first distribution on 25th December, 2016. It has simplified many applications. It makes it possible to send its cryptocurrency called GBYE through any messaging app or email with its Text coin. Beside this, it also offers native smart contract functionality, ICO platform, conditional smart payments, its own private currency (Blackbyte), messaging system, chatbots, user-controlled secure ID data and many more features in a very simplified and user-friendly manner.
DAG as well as Byteball looks very promising to me and I've great hopes with this technology that may revolutionize the idea of blockhain to the next level.
I won't like to miss this opportunity to wish a very happy birthday to Byteball.
I hear that Byteball is soon going to re-brand itself and may get a new name and logo. (So I don't think I'll get this opportunity again 😉)
Happy B'day Byteball!
