(Below: Boogie needs to be restrained from claiming GAS from his NEON wallet... Try explaining that GAS can only be claimed every 5 minutes to the world's youngest :whale:
When our firstborn, Logan Jax (Boogie), was born this past October, the doctors all agreed that he was a big boy. Born one week late, Logan came into the world in the 90th percentile in both weight and length. Three months later, Logan is pushing the 92nd percentile and when we went home this past Christmas to Okemos, Michigan, Logan's paternal grandmother had to concur that this little guy was, "Quite the whale!"
Grandma's comment was of course in reference to Boogie's size, but what grandma didn't realize at the time was that she had nailed the whale on the blowhole in a figurative manner. Unbeknownst to her at the time, grandma was holding one of the world's youngest cryptocurrency enthusiasts and active traders, and arguably the galaxy's youngest whale.

Having just passed the 100-day mark, Boogie's accomplishments are worth writing home about. His top five holdings (pictured below) are up an average of 187% per holding, and despite not being able to read (or so he claims...) he has managed to achieve respectable portfolio diversification.
Loving crypto, from the "crHODLe to grave" -- screenshot taken on 1/21/18. s/o to the Delta app, slick stuff.
A few things that have impressed me:
- Boogie's stoic resolve during market corrections (he was utterly unmoved when the Bitcoin futures contracts came up)
- his relatively low-risk tolerance given his age bracket (< 1-year-old)
- his natural propensity to buy the rumor and sell the news (conveyed in code via an elaborate series of random keyboard clicks)
Though Boogie admits that while it is nice to have a little crypto nest egg to play with, his main goal in investing in the space is to put his money where his mouth is when it comes to supporting some of the incredible projects out there. Whether it be supporting a next-generation Ethereum-type blockchain in NEO or pushing for web decentralization through SUB, Boogie's main joy comes from doing his part to promote crypto.
But as Boogie reminds me on a daily basis:
a whale of any size is just another organism swimming in the sea.
"At the end of the day, an ocean is an ecosystem," Boogie goes on to say. Then, citing Metcalfe's law, Boogie goes on to explain how the value of crypto is proportional to the square number of its users and into his normal rant about how decentralization in the financial industry will fundamentally change the world.
About 5 minutes in, Boogie's eyes get heavy and he starts to fade. When I'm sure that he's asleep, I tell him how proud I am for him for being so bold at such a young age. I tell him that while dad doesn't have the kahoonas to close down his fiat checking accounts, I'm so proud of him for contemplating a world where real privacy is respected and backed by a system that is truly of and for the people. The reality is that we may or may not see such a world come about. But it sure won't be because the galaxy's youngest whale stopped trying.

If you've got a youngster or know of one, I challenge you to get him/her involved in the cryptosphere. It could be as simple as gifting a fraction of a Litecoin; take a minute to use the coin as a symbol of what the blockchain and cryptocurrency mean. Collectively, let's help the next generations clean up some of the messes our generations made.
