Cryptobiosis

Although they are spread all over the planet, they are known to love places with high humidity.

For example, they love being near rivers. Because they can increase their natural life span when they get enough nutrients and water. Although they can withstand extremely harsh conditions, their lifespan is around 1-2 years. Therefore, even in such a habitat, which is considered a paradise for themselves, they can lead a life of more than 2 years.

But if they go into a stage called cryptobiosis, they have a better chance of living. This is usually due to the difficult environmental conditions. Their metabolism, so to speak; so that they freeze, dry without drying or die from hunger. So they have a chance in Antarctica, even in space.

In this phase, which slows their metabolism extraordinarily, their need for oxygen and water decreases and they freeze dead. But of course, even then, their lives continue. It was found that the tardigrat which had dried and remained dead in this way at -200 degrees were revived in a short period of time.
