With cryptocurrency mining on the rise it only means one thing; a GPU pricing increase and supply shortage. However, I've learned that a little patience and creativity can still land you a great card at a reasonable price.
In this post, I am going to share a technique I just used to purchase six ASUS Dual series GeForce GTX 1060 3GB for less than $1,160 bucks (tax and shipping included). That’s only $193 dollars apiece! They are currently selling for $229 - $239 apiece at most online retailers (and that is before tax). if I paid full price, these GPU's would have cost me $1,470.
This technique is time sensitive so if you found this article too late, make sure you connect with me here on steemit, Twitter (www.twitter.com/SmartMoneyMiner) or my website (www.smartmoneymining.com) so you don't miss out on the next one.
There are fancier graphic cards on the market, but if you want a good old fashioned “bang for your buck” build, you have to love the Nvidia gtx 1060’s. While these are the 3gb versions and limited on certain algorithms, they are still as good as ever on equihash coins.
I’ve seen benchmarks for this exact model in the 300-310 sols/sec range.
I hate paying full price for anything so I use methods like this all of the time to buy my stuff. I thought it would be nice to share it with the community so everyone can benefit from it.
A few important things you need to know before getting started:
We are limited to buying 2 gpu’s per customer per address. However, if you moral compass will allow you to get creative enough, you can get 6 or more.
The sale ends soon and the rebate ends at the end of this month. You can claim your rebate after the 31st but you need to make your purchase before the new year.
Let’s get started:
Go to Ebates.com - Ebates offers shoppers Cash Back at over 2,000 stores. These stores pay Ebates a commission for sending customers their way and Ebates shares the commission with you as Cash Back. This will get you a 2% rebate when you buy your GPU’s. PLUS you’ll get $10 bucks for opening an account and making a purchase at one of the stores they works with. Your GPU purchase will qualify you for the $10 dollars.
Sign up for an account. *Under the sign up form it will ask if someone referred you. If you feel like typing my email address in there it would be much appreciated. It is [email protected]
After you are signed up and logged in, type “newegg.com” into the search bar. Click on the big “shop now” button and you will be directed to Newegg.com. Any purchase you make now qualifies for 2% cash back. Newegg Inc. is an online retailer of items including computer hardware and consumer electronics. It is based in City of Industry, California, in the United States
Type “ASUS Dual series GeForce GTX 1060 3gb” into the search bar. Make sure you click on the 3gb product and not the 6gb.
The regular price says $229.99. Don’t worry about that. Click add to cart. Again, you will only be able to purchase 2 at a time. Navigate to the shopping cart and fill out the required information
Next scroll down to the “Apply Promo Code” section. Enter your email adress. The page will refresh and there will be a place in the same section to enter a promo code. Enter “EMCBCCJ52” (without the quotations). Your price in the cart won’t update right away but you’ll see a message that confirms the discount in the apply promo code box.
Continue with the checkout process. The full price will still be displayed but don’t worry. Once you get to the billing section you’ll see that the discount is applied. Keep in mind that the tax was added at this stage as well.
Each card also comes with a $20 rebate so there is still $40 more savings to take advantage of.
After you finalize the purchase, make a note of your invoice number because you’ll need it to claim your rebate from Asus.
Let’s review:
The final price I paid upfront with tax was $444.58 (BUT MORE SAVINGS IS COMING)
-$20 rebate 1
-$20 rebate 2
-$10 from Ebates for special sign up promotion
-$8.50 from ebates 2% cash back
Your final price is for two ASUS Dual series GeForce GTX 1060 3GB is $193 dollars apiece (tax and shipping included). Again, these graphic cards can produce 300 sols/sec if clocked properly. So you are getting 600 sols/sec for under $400 dollars.
How to claim your $40 dollar rebate from Asus:
This part is simple and painless. You’ll need the serial numbers on both units before you can finalize the rebate so we have to wait a few days until they arrive.
Once you have the serial numbers here are the rebate instructions. It’s easy as pie.
To claim your rebate go to: https://asus.4myrebate.com/?oc=ASU-14618
Fill out the necessary information. After you select the right model Asus, make sure you update the quantity to 2. The rebate amount will update from $20 to $40. Finish filling out the necessary information and you are all set!
Here are FAQ’s from the Asus rebate center if you have any questions: https://asus.4myrebate.com/Home/FAQ
A few notes:
Newegg may allow you to make multiple 2 unit purchases. However, Asus will only honor 2 rebates per product per household. My fiance “bought me” 2 more that we shipped to our neighbors and my friend “bought me” 2 more that went to his house. So just get creative and have some fun.
Important: The name and address on the purchase invoice needs to match the information you put on the Asus rebate claim for it to process successfully. So plan accordingly. Use a different email address for each order as well.
