Major economies seem headed into a trade war that could have a major impact on the flow of goods and services across the world. At the same time some major economies especially in Europe are in a very weak position financially. Actually, they are technically insolvent and are a disaster waiting to happen.
A combination of these factors could create a systemic collapse in the global economy, one that would be worse than the 2008 financial meltdown. There will no safety in traditional risk-free assets like bonds. Hyper-inflation too could easily become a reality after years of qualitative easing.
This could mark the point where cryptocurrencies take over the world. Their decentralized nature, as well as their utility in transferring value, could see cryptos get adopted as currencies all across the world. It would usher in the true decentralized economy that many in crypto have envisioned.
