Nowadays, the cryptocurrencies world is getting more known, both because it has been growing for years and because people see something worthy in it that in future could be widely and simply used.
Since the birth of Bitcoin in 2009, many other cryptocurrencies were born, all based on the Blockchain technology; either to copy Bitcoin or to actually solve a problem. For instance, Bitcoin wanted to create a decentralized payment system, allowing people to perform transaction without a third party, which could intervene blocking or postponing the transaction. Then, Etherum was born with the idea of smart contracts, which help you exchange money, property, shares, or anything of value in a transparent, conflict-free way while avoiding the services of a middleman. Now there is much interest for NEO, which is considered to be a chinese version of Etherum. And since Chineses like to by Chinese, it could be a bomb ready to explode.
Today a new Crypto is getting out of the way: IOTA. This new Crypto claims having exceeded the Blockchain technology, by substituting it with the Tangle. This last technology has been attacked by many criticizers, who affirm that the Tangle is not safe. All their critics had been rejected though. The Tangle seems to be perfectly safe. In addition, IOTA is considered to be the Crypto which will allow micropayments (it has no fees) and will allow machines to interact one another and automatically pay each others.
Among all theese Cryptos, there are different ways and different reasons to choose a cryptocurrencies instead of another. People sometimes simply buy a specific crypto in order to become rich, without having a plan though by simply hoping the price of it will rise. These are the speculators. Other people buy Cryptos to incourage their spread, for a faster wordly adoption. Despite the fact that those are all legit reasons to buy Cryptos, if someone really wants to become rich with it, that someone must be patient, being aware of the fact that she/he could end by losing all money she/he had invested.
Probably, a good way to choose a Crypto to belive in is its innovation potential. All the Crypto that are coming out like mushrooms don't actually aim to solve problems that may occur in future or that we already have. On the other hand, there are Crypto that try to improve an already existing system. For example, even though there was already bitcoin that allowed digital transaction, Monero was born with the goal of allowing anonymous digital transactions, which is useful for those who don't want other people to see on waht their are spending their money.
The reason way those kind of people have to be patient is that the maximum value of a Crypto will be reached only when it will not be worthy anymore to convert it in fiat money (€ $ £). Which means, that someone has to start spending that Crypto has a normal currency without thinking in his head about the value in $ or whatever fiat is present in her/his country. Only then, the Crypto will have reached its real potential value.
However, I think that the global adoptation of cryptocurrencies doesn't have to come only due to greedy reasons, but because it would make the economy fairer, where people don't have to pay high commisions on transactions and wait days to see them completed. A good way to better understand this Cryptoworld is by getting involved in it and by reading much about it.
