Newbie in Cyrptos

in cryptocurrencies •  8 years ago  (edited)

Not only am I a beginner at Steemit but I've ventured into this strange new world of cyrpto currencies with a lot of questions. It's exciting as well as more than a little daunting with all the lingo and such. I've manage to purchase 1/2 of a BC and 11 ETh through the exchange Coinbase. Now I'm hearing some negative chatter about Coinbase that's making me a bit nervous. I even tried to swap 1 ETH for some VERI on the difficult to use EtherDelta exchange. I followed a Utube vid on how to do it but only manage to import account from MyEtherWallet only to have the account vanish. I did find the 1 ETH on Etherscan.io so I know it's not lost but my question is how to get it back into a wallet? I've heard that a person should take all their cyrptos offline into a paper wallet to keep it safe from theft. Is it effectively offline now if it shows the address on Etherscan but isn't in a online wallet? ( Is that what is called a paper wallet?) I am able to send ETH to the address on Etherscan but how can I swap or move it? Forgive me for being such a dolt but I'm having the newbie growing pains trying to figure this stuff out. Anyone out there that can steer me in the right direction? I would be eternally grateful. Thanks for reading my rant!
