Two months is a long time in the crypto economy...

60 Days is a long time in the world of crypto, where gains or losses since yesterday excite or weigh heavy on everyones mind. But unless you are a day trader, you are probably going for a HODL strategy and waiting to see what happens over a longer period of time. So every so often I take a look back over the past couple of months. This time I tought I would share my musings, with the cavaet that I am not offering financial or investment advice and that past performance is no indicator of future performance etc...

BTC, BCH and LTC

Bitcoin (BTC) has hardly moved compared to its possition two months ago. It looks like it has merely climbed from $10257 to $10460, a slight gain, but not very impressive. Of course this long view hides the peak of $19665 on the 16th December. Bitcoins' "rival", Bitcoin Cash (BCH), also holds a worth similar to 2 months ago, it has had a slight decline from $1574 to $1493. It also enjoyed a short lived exciting peak, this time on Dec 20th at $3785.

Litecoin (LTC) performed a little better over the past two months, rising from $97 to $167. It is in a slow decline at the moment after a Dec 18th peak of $360.

ETH, XLM and SC

My next selection have all performed a little better.

Ether (ETH) has more than doubled in value from just $474 to $1015, after a peak at $1448 on January 13th.

Stellar (XLM) have risen from just $0.08 each to $0.56, seven times their value from 2 months ago!

Siacoin (SC) have increased to over five times their value from 2 months ago, up from less than a cent ($0.0067) to $0.0357.

All quite impressive investments, and all looking like they will continue to provide long term growth.

BTS, STEEM and EOS

Finally, the past two months have been great for the Graphene based blockchains launched by @dan, namely Bitshares, Steem and EOS.

Like Ether, Bitshares (BTS) has slightly more than doubled in value from $0.17 to $0.39. It enjoyed a spike in value of $0.92.

Is it hard to believe that 2 months ago, STEEM was only worth $1.19? Maybe it was worth more even then, but just wasn't trading well to show it. Since today it is at $5.63, an almost fivefold in fact increase in its value over 2 months, STEEM remains a good investment, even without taking into account posting rewards. STEEM has also proved a little more resistant to the volatility of the other currencies, reaching just $8.16 at during its biggest spike and after correcting, offers what seems to be a steady increase in its long term trend.

EOS is another star over this period, offering a steady rise in value from $2.82 to $13.90. It has spiked twice over $18, but like STEEM resists well the volatility of other currencies and continues on its steady climb.

Conclusion

BTC and BCH both look a little tired. LTC and ETH have performed similarly, but ETH has climbed more consistently, whereas LTC looks like it burned itself out. Neither can compete with the steady rise of STEEM and EOS. Can the star performers of XLM and SC do as well over the coming two months? I wish I knew...

Interesting that you picked a period of two months.
I recently wrote about realistic growth expectations over a two month period for someone who believes the cryptocurrency market is just finishing a correction and is not in a bear market. The major coins seem to have fallen within my analysis of between 1.44x to 2.05x in two months.

Interesting analysis. There have certainly been coins that bucked the trend since BTC started correcting. On a coin by coin basis, STEEM and EOS seem bullish even against a recent bearish move. So a lot will depend not just on the movement of the market, but where you HODL your investments. :)

This industry is extremely volatile, Ethereum was the coin that truly surprised me the most as I thought that it would actually rise gradually instead of straight up skyrocketing! Monero and Dash are quite good investments in my opinion as there is a huge hype around them! Thanks for writing this interesting post...

Awesome
