My new favorite crypto.

I'll be honest, at first, it comes off as a joke, and in some ways, I guess it is, but after a little further diggin', it actually seems to be a solid coin with some helarious devs. that have a deep love of TMNT! Let's take a look at it.

Turtlecoin has been out since December 9th 2017. Not quite a year old yet, at the time of this post. It's the brainchild of a dev. that goes by the name, "RockSteady". He chooses to remain anonymous. According to him, he would rather the focus be on the project than him. He does, however do interviews, and appears as an avatar that uses facial tracking.

You can see one of his interviews here

Now, on to the coin it's self.

It's a privacy coin, based on Bitecoin, and similar to Monero with a max supply of one trillion. That sounds like a lot, but it brings me to one of my favorite things about Turtlecoin and part of what makes it unique. Only two decimal places.

That's right. Just like a dollar, the smallest denomination of a Turtlecoin is 0.01. One of the few things I don't like about crypto is ALL the decimial places. I understand it's to help scaleability, but MAN, can it be a headache sometimes. You never REALLY get use to it. The Turtlecoin team realized that it doesn't matter very much where you put the decimal when you're talking about total supply in smallest divisible units. Why not put it somewhere familiar, that makes the math easy! When you break it down that way, Tutrlecoin is actually more scarce than Bitcoin.

Mining.

Turtlecoin runs off cryptonote, so, if you're already mining Monero, It shouldn't be to hard to switch over and mine a few to play with. It's super easy to mine at the moment. Just with the old Intel core i3 in my desktop, I average a humble 120 h/s. and am pulling in 1000 TRTL every day and a half to two days. The pool I've been using is turtlepool.space. They've been really reliable so far, and haven't missed a payout. The software they recommend is XMR-stack. which was a big upgrade from the claymore I was using, and it can mine multiple currencies. Average block reward is 2900 TRTL.
Block time is 30 seconds, so transaction speed is also reasonably fast.

Turtlecoin already has a friendly and very involved community. You can join their discord and see for yourself here

I really think it's worth taking a closer look at! I definitely plan on holding this one. Can't wait to see where it goes! This early in the game, there really is nowhere to go but up. You can see the current price here. I'm not great at analyzing charts, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say their's been some pump and dump action going on the past little bit, and might be getting ready for another pump.

Maybe if you're a little more knowledgeable about that stuff than I am, you can get in on it. I just don't have time to sit and watch the charts.

Currently the only exchange, that I'm aware of, it's listed on is TradeOgre. Some people are a little scepticle about it. I've only used it a couple of times, but had no issue. I think you'll be ok as long as you don't leave anything you're not trading on the exchange. Good common practice.

Hope you enjoyed, hope this was informative, and hope you'll consider taking a closer look! God bless!

I've heard about this coin before. It's unnecessary, but if it helps increase your BTC pile great!

Meh... The only reason I fool with Bitcoin anymore is because it's the current standard. There are alts out there that are WAY better currencies, imo, than Bitcoin. They all have their kinks to work out, and try to accomplish different things, but I think privacy coins are the way to go. Privacy is becoming more and more of an issue, and I see demand for that rising in the future.

Looks interesting, I like the logo too.
Thanks for sharing @appalachain...

You never know babe. If we make a good chunk, we do, if we don't, you had nothing in it so essentially we lose nothing.
