Something I have started to think about is Professional Sports and Crypto and the involvement of the two industries. In which instances could crypto be used? Player transfers, player payments, tickets?
Player transfers and player payments is an interesting topic for me. With some professional sporting leagues adopting salary caps could crypto be used to hide player payments to beat the system? Without being involved in the sports industry and how they collect player payment information or how they audit the payment histories I am guessing that if they aren’t using it now, someone will soon enough.
How do you combat this potential problem? Maybe we need FIFAcoin a blockchain where all player payments are made, player sales are made and so on so that everything is out in the open with no FIAT transactions between teams or players allowed. That way we can track FIFA fair play, although undisclosed fees would now be disclosed. NFLcoin or NBAcoin same thing so that you can track salary caps.
What if there was a Crypto FC? Well this gives me an idea for an ICO, CryptoFC! Too bad I have no idea on how to run this or if it has been attempted already. If there have been ICOs for Real Estate purchases and Casinos etc... why not eh? Lots of people dream of owning a sports team.
Here is my thinking everyone that purchase the CryptoFC token becomes a member of the team as long as you hold X amount of tokens in your wallet?
Token holders also get voting rights on certain aspects of the club but do all token holders have the same vote? EG if you have one token do you have the same voice as someone who has 1000?
Dividend payouts due to player sales, competition wins etc…?
I guess with the ICO funds we would purchase a team probably some low division side with potential, buy players (with crypto?), improve facilities, coaches and backroom staff? Staff could be paid in crypto as well? Of course we would need to build the tech behind the team perhaps thats where the money would be made as we sell the tech to other teams or sporting codes?
Probably a silly idea…. What do you think? I think it could be similar to the online myfootballclub website idea where they purchased a team?
