Decred has announced support for on-chain atomic swaps, allowing cryptocurrency holders to trade directly, without having to rely on external exchanges... which is all the in the news these days!!!
The first swap took place YESTERDAY with Charlie Lee - LiteCoin founder which is cool! Some of that will be covered below, this is great news.
Personally, I have seen Decred rising for days, wondering what was going on and KNEW something big must be happening, when the rest of the market was suffering / depressed w the China news/FUD.
The last 30 days of Decred Charts!
Coins currently supported are Decred (DCR), Litecoin ( LTC ), and Bitcoin (BTC).

"Support for on-chain atomic swaps is extremely useful,"Jake Yocom-Piatt, Decred Project Lead said in a statement. "Thanks to the foresight of the Lightning Network authors and developers, and the dedication of our own developers, it is our pleasure to deliver an important capability that has been discussed since the concept of cross-chain atomic transfers was proposed in 2013."
Users can already begin performing exchanges between DCR, BTC and LTC using tools that the Decred developers have created.
Currently, the tools are text-based -- but will be integrated into the Decrediton GUI wallet in releases down the road, official sources stated.
From the Decred official blog today:
As many of you know, yesterday marked the first cross-chain atomic swap between Decred and Litecoin. This is an important step in a direction that allows users to conduct trustless, cross-chain, over-the-counter (“OTC”) trades without a third party. This disintermediates the exchange process between cryptocurrencies that support these swap transactions.
We have created some simple prototype tools under the atomicswap repository, dcratomicswap, btcatomicswap and ltcatomicswap, to allow Decred, Bitcoin and Litecoin users to swap between DCR, BTC and LTC using on-chain atomic swaps. These tools were built for those who we have the means at hand to disintermediate the exchange process: transaction script and OP_CLTV support. It is worth noting that these tools do not address the issue of order book management that is typically performed with full-featured exchanges.
There are some privacy and transparency consequences related to on-chain atomic swaps that are not present with centralized exchanges. As of this announcement, the tools are text-based, but we will be integrating this into the Decrediton GUI wallet in a future release.

This is huge news for the entire cryptocurrency world.
I wrote an article about it earlier this afternoon. It struck me as odd that this did not get more publicity. Atomic swaps will make cryptocurrencies into money. This is something that is going to alleviate a lot of the negative arguments against cryptos. The ability to seamlessly switch back and forth just legitimized crypto as a viable means of payment for even micro transactions.
This enhanced the value of any legit coin that is out there.

Awesome man.
I have had some IRL issues to deal with so have not been able to be online as much researching and catching things lately as I would like. It is why I could not take the time the last few days, seeing something was clearly going on in the charts.
Thanks for the comments today again!!
