It seems to me that a lot of people on here are really into cryptocurrencies so I thought I had a good story to share and maybe some of you will enjoy it or be able to relate.
If you have been following my blog for the past week I usually just post pictures of beaches, or food and things like that. But the only reason I am able to travel and not worry about money is thanks to crypto currency. Like I have said before, I am from a small village in Ukraine. We did not have much money but I was good in school and worked long days and eventually I was able to go to University in Kiev.
In November 2013 there was a crisis in Ukraine. In fact, the rebels were fighting not more than from my two kilometers apartment. The event was called the EuroMaidan (Maidan is the main square in Kiev). This was a very bad time for my country and it was scary to even go outside.
Around this time one of my classmates was talking about bitcoin and how he was making money (he got in quite early). This was right after bitcoin reached $1000 USD and started to drop. It was good that I was skeptical at first because I saw the price go lower and lower. My friend said it is okay because there was talks of our own currency having a crisis. Even now there has not been a recovery. It used to be 8:1 and now it is 26:1 when comparing it with the US dollar.
Anyways, I was able to get in using all the money I had. I figured I can sell to pay rent and I would just keep a little bit of cash money to buy food and other small things. I know this is not a good investment advice but I was lucky it worked out for me.
Two years ago I started to get more involved and doing my own research about cryptocurrency. I said well I was able to make money using bitcoin and not lose money in my home country currency maybe there is something else I should look to invest in. I started to diversify my money and I ended up making more money than I had ever thought I would make in my whole life. Now I live in another country and spend a lot of time travelling or seeing my friends. I do not know if this will last forever but for now I am very happy.
I hope this was enjoyable to read. It was fun to write. Also I want to thank my friend for editing my english since hers is better than mine :)
