I have been eagerly awaiting Metropolis for Ethereum since a project I am vested in going to launch once this goes live and is stable. Here are some updates on what we know so far for the future of Ethereum.

Two hardforks to come

One is about to take place in the next 1-2 weeks which is called Byzantium which will create benchmarks for gas used or the reward amount for processing/mining. The fork from Constantinople which moves into Metropolis then goes on to the testnet for 2-4 weeks. This hard fork should happen somewhere between Sept. 22 and Oc. 27th. I as of yet don't know if the hard fork will create a split in the coin or not like we see with ETC and ETH now. If anyone has any documents on this please kindly add them in the commends.

Ice Age

Block times will be increasing on ethereum which will be released over time and should do so at these given dates and time.

I am still heavy on ETH it provides a unique type of blockchain which many have not fully realized just yet. With these updates over the next 2 months issues that came up about slow transaction times should be resolved and allow for many new apps and other types of projects to be launched around the coin thus increasing its core value.

One of the biggest updates on this is Mark Cuban's Team launching an Ethereum-based Mercury protocol. Someone who was so sure they crypto currency was just a fad has now invested heavily into Ethereum based business.
