Control, Competence, and Connection Through Cryptocurrency

 Buying cryptocurrency meets the basic needs of control, competence, and connection. According to Self-determination Theory, we’re motivated to action when our needs for autonomy, competence, and affiliation are satisfied. That is, we need to feel a sense of control (not being controlled by others) and to feel as if we have a choice. We need to feel competent (able to master a new skill or that we’re being effective). We also need to feel connected to others, to feel significant to others, to feel a sense of belonging, or to feel a sense of community. Being part of the crypto community fulfills all of these.  

And according to the theory, we willing seek opportunities to develop our potential. These opportunities enhance our sense of well-being, which in turn drives us to better performance. Charles Duhigg’s research (Smarter, Faster, Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business) confirms the theory's part about the need for a sense of control and being able to make choices.  Cryptocurrency feeds those needs.  Plus it provides us with choices. We’re all more motivated when we have choices.
