When looking at crypto it’s always easier to destroy something than to build.
I’ve decided to finally write something about a project that has been attacked like no other that I have in my portfolio.
I’m referring to Skycoin. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, here is a short description:
“Net neutrality and consumer data privacy emerged as two key issues in tech in 2017. If you’re concerned about paying ridiculous fees to ISPs for unreliable coverage, having your data sold, or government monitoring and censorship - Skycoin provides hope. These are the core issues Skycoin is attempting to solve.”
Pretty great, right? The project has a great and reputable team, it’s one of the oldest in the space and has seen a lot of progress in implementing the vision being in the top 20 when it comes to Github commits (https://www.cryptomiso.com/) ahead of more popular coins such as Monero, Tron or Qtum and yet way behind on the price.
So why is it a below 100 coin and why has it been attacked so much lately?
I don’t know and I prefer not to speculate but since the official rebuttal to the addressed concerns provided by the team (https://medium.com/@Skycoinproject/is-skycoin-a-scam-c5d47ab80d2f)
I’ve seen on many forums people spreading misinformation and using the word scam but never replying when confronted about the accusations.
Is Skycoin a perfect project? Clearly not, but they have shown interest in improving and unlike most, they have been lacking on the marketing side not on the technical.
My advice to you would be to research as much as possible especially since Sky has so much to offer:
A. It aims to create a new internet based on p2p mesh networks with descentralized files, decentralized computing
B. It will work as a VPN
C. It will create a new space for decentralized social network and messager
D. It has a closed loop ecosystem which encourages holding
Many people have staved off because you can’t find skycoin on the major exchanges, but this will change really soon. Another concern is that the project aims to do a lot, and to that I say yes, it’s ambitious but even if it achieves only part of it, it would still be more valuable than most top 20 coins at the moment.
When it comes to Skycoin I will be courageous when others are fearful.
It’s always easier to destroy something rather than to build, but you cannot destroy something with a solid foundation, you can only scratch the surface and others such as I will try to undo an injustice done by a smearing campaign.
