Custom Home Bitcoin Mining Mount - 3D Printing - 6x 1060GTX BUILD

in cryptocurrency •  8 years ago  (edited)

I've been building computers all my life, so naturally mining is super exciting to me. Finally an excuse to build a ridiculous computer besides, "just because I need it " . I love seeing the creativity that goes into these builds, since it is entirely new, and with these machines most cases on the market restrict airflow too much . The creativity is endless, I've seen rigs setup in metal dog cages, shelving units, and a new variety of open air frames. I really hate clutter and wires and thats pretty much what most rigs have evolved into at this point, everyone is in such a mad dash to get up and running, its safe to say for once in a long time people care about the equipment and not how it looks, and with good reasoning ! However, it can be a bit of a drag if you are supposed to have this thing in your house for years right? Not everyone has a huge cement basement to absorb all that heat and never be seen, and if your like me, you just like being around the machine and having it accessible to tweak, overclock, and break things! : ) .

So this all led me to the idea of building my rigs in furniture, with each rig I will make the build more hidden. For my first build I used an IKEA night stand, which really sparked the idea. How awesome would it be if the "bookshelf" in the corner was making you money or secretly your kitchen table is pulling in $1,000 a month. With new card technology it is feasible to have these things running around the house without being an annoyance . Cards are getting more efficient, using less power, and giving off less heat. This makes them quitter to cool, and more profitable to own !

The first issue you run into is where to mount things! Literally, where are you going to put your motherboard if its not going in a case? Where the heck do I put these cards? So although I plan to make some awesome custom motherboard mounting plates, I started out with little plastic feet which were much easier to use on the fly. Secondly I hate how the cards have to be mounted on an overhang. I also wanted to be able to easily move the cards around without everything being a huge mess, so I invented the Bit-Rig. Its a small plate with arms, you screw your riser into it, and attach your GPU, simple. Now your GPU is free-standing, you can set it wherever you like, and it links up to other GPUs so they can all nicely sit together... It also raises it up high enough to be used on any flat surface, thank God ! This is just a start to our mining rig home solutions, I am currently working on a stackable version! Most standard gaming PCs can host up to 6 cards and most people don't know it! You can easily convert your standard PC into a rig, and this will make setting the cards outside the box easy.  I look forward to all feedback and thanks for checking this out.
