2018 is upon us and crypto is here to stay. With the new year, I'm incredibly interested in how the crypto world continues to develop. Here are five crypto trends that I think are extremely interesting, and will have a potentially significant impact in 2018.
5 Interesting Cryptocurrency Trends to Watch in 2018
- Bitcoin and Ethereum Scaling - Can they do effectively scale or will competitors fill the gap
- Decentralized Exchanges - Who will gain market share?
- Privacy Coins
- Institutional Money
- Crypto Leaders - Will they leave? If so, what does this do

Great insight into the 2018 crypto space Bobby, keep up the good work. What's your take on the new Bitconnect ICO? Do you think its them attempting to move towards being a legit platform or do you think this is just a last ditch phase of an exit strategy? Would love to hear your thoughts on that one.
PS, no meme today, way to hung over for that today...

No meme? What planet are we on?!
Just kidding man, happy new year.. Take on the Bitconnect ICO? What on god's green earth do they need an ICO for....
All the savvy Bitconnect investors tell me they make tons of money on their "exchange fees" and "volatility bot", plus they already have their own token.. So they're going to make another token? LOL

I was watching Craig Grants video on BitconnectX and couldn't stop laughing. First off he spent the entire video hyping it and saying how its going to be the most promoted ICO ever, yet not even for 1 second did he say what the ICO is actually for. He even went so far to say that the ICO starts Jan 8th but info about what the ICO is wont be released until 2 days later on Jan 10th, and basically said people will need to invest before they find out what they are investing in (and he seemed 100% fine with this logic...), and even said to make sure to use BCC tokens to buy into the ICO as this will help boost the BCC token price (which I am sure someone like Grant would love since it lets him gain on multiple fronts). To make things even worse, at the very end of the video he then made an untasteful exit scam joke which he then quickly removed from the video a few minutes later after he uploaded it.
The whole thing is so damn shady it's nuts, and the way the Bitconnect cheerleaders are blinding promoting it without even knowing wtf it is they are promoting shows the mindset of most Bitconnect investors perfectly... blind trust with no knowledge. The blind leading the blind basically...

@cryptobobby great video, and great response on Bitconnect. As a social experiment, I threw in some $ and promptly pulled my investment out through daily payments as soon as possible. At this point, it is not lost money, and I enjoy throwing my money into a furnace on a daily basis lol.
Like was said, let's hope BitconnectX doesn't stand for "Bitconnect [Dev] Exit".

Fantastic video and a great way to start 2018. I think the issue of Crypto Leadership Centralisation is definitely worth tracking and I didn't think about it until Charlie Lee offloaded his entire LTC holdings. This caused me to pause my own purchases of LTC as I considered if CL knew something that I didn't know. Certainly, if the CEO of a company that I have shares in, suddenly dumps all his shares, it would sound alarm bells all over the place.
However, after some consideration -- CL did the right thing; yes LTC value dropped but I don't think the coin needs such a centralised figure; not now. Additionally, I buy into the whole decentralised idea of crypto currency and this includes decentralising those in leadership and development positions.
As for Vitalik Buterin; ETH is huge. Ripple may have grabbed the #2 market cap position but ETH forms the core platform of almost all the recent ICOs. It is also one of the prime cryptos that new users get into: and from there through exchanges one can then change their BTC/ETH for a plethora of other cryptos. ETH losing Vitalik will probably hurt more than LTC 'losing' CL; I can see the ETH ecosystem potentially forking and fragmenting. Time to look at Cardano once more.
For me, 2018 will be on privacy coins and the continued rise of Ripple. People will start to figure out that Ripple, while valuable, is 'just' a subway token for the Ripple network. You can't buy anything with it but one cannot deny it's value.
Large well known retailers such as Amazon will make a play for the crypto space. I think they will start off supporting one of the main cryptos but in the background, they'll be trying to develop their own offering and when it comes out; expect it to be huge.
BTC will address their transaction costs and speed issues in 2018 but will find that it's crown as King of the Cryptos to have slipped somewhat.
Looking forward to more videos.

Here you go, from Investopedia
There are a number of differences between institutional investors and non-institutional investors. If you are considering an investment in a particular stock that you've seen publicized in the financial press, there's a good chance you don't qualify as an institutional investor. In fact, if you're wondering what an institutional investor is, you're probably not an institutional investor.
Institutional investors are the big guys on the block - the elephants. They're the pension funds, mutual funds, money managers, insurance companies, investment banks, commercial trusts, endowment funds, hedge funds, and some hedge fund investors. Institutional investors account for half of the volume of trades on the New York Stock Exchange. They move large blocks of shares and have tremendous influence on the stock market's movements. Because they're considered to be knowledgeable and, therefore, less likely to make uneducated investments, institutional investors are subject to few of the protective regulations that the Securities and Exchange Commission provides to your average, everyday investor. (See Policing The Securities Market: An Overview Of The SEC.)
The money that institutional investors use isn't actually money that the institutions have raised themselves. Institutional investors generally invest for other people. If you have a pension plan at work, a mutual fund or insurance, then you are actually benefiting from the expertise of institutional investors.
Non-institutional investors are, by definition, any investors that aren't institutional. That's pretty much everyone who buys and sells debt, equity or other investments through a broker, bank, real estate agent and so on. These are the people or organizations that manage their own money, usually to plan for retirement or to save for a large purchase.

Thank you. I was interested about the institutional money in the context of cryptocurrency. How would the institutions present these investments? Can you give some examples of institutions that would potentially buy cryptocurrency?

Bitcoin and ETH are already surprising at the beginning of the year, each in its own way. And the rest of the trends will be observed later.

Glad new year! 2018 will be an incredible year. What an adventure it has been with Steem. We both have seen a considerable measure over the previous year or something like that. This undertaking has shown me to such an extent. The things I have learned are worth more than any measure of cash en route. I see the world in an entirely different manner after all I have learned since beginning with Blockchains. I truly trust the world is moving into a superior place. In the expressions of the colossal Naveen Jain we as a whole should "have an outlook of plenitude". This blockchain can be a device to change the world for good and show individuals numerous things if utilized as a part of the correct way. Information is power and It will be a blockchain loaded with learning. The Steem blockchain is getting more grounded by the day. We have seen some astounding development since this blockchain began and I know this is just the begin. When we have a completely refined item it will have the capacity to do things we cannot envision yet. The expansion of SMTs into the blockchain will intrigue and will change the way we consider the web and what is conceivable. Groups and discussions are a gigantic piece of the web. The conceivable utilizations of SMTs are stunning to consider. With Steemit and Steem we are now rolling out improvements in places that need it and offering assistance to those in require. Envision what's on the horizon for us and this blockchain. We additionally have an incredible group behind this blockchain. That is one of the principle reasons I put my BTC into this task over a year prior in the wake of discovering it on the Bitcointalk gathering and faltering onto Steemit through google look through a couple of times (accidentally hunting down different things). I at that point started some examination and saw @dan talking a couple of times about Steem. At that point saw @ned talking on YouTube and on CheddarTV and knew instinctively then he was resolved to make something extraordinary. Its awesome to see designers as you doing extraordinary things for the eco framework also @exyle with things like Steemify and Blockbrothers. Cheerful New Year again @exyle - Lets take Steemit and Steem to the following level in 2018!

I think Etherum will pump large this year and SALT will go much higher than current price. Everything under 25 dollars is like discount. Bassicaly Etherum based projects will increase in volume and price.
