What 2017 gave us

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago

Hello! Firstly, I have to say thanks to everybody who supported my "introduce myself" post, it gave me confidence to carry on updating my blog. It's been almost two weeks since my previous post, sorry for that - it takes time to carefully write good content.

Today I'm gonna write about the things that happened in the previous year. I guess all of you already now about them but still I'll remind you of them.

No doubts, everyone knows about rapid growth of many cryptocurrencies. To start with, on January 3, 2017 several articles appeared in different mass media services telling about Bitcoin's price eventually exceeding 1000$ mark for the first time in a long period. Broad mass media coverage managed to bring public's attention to Bitcoin in particular and the whole cryptocurrency topic in common. As a result, Bitcoin's price kept growing higher and higher supporting the growth of other currencies.

By the end of 2017 Bitcoin's price was almost 16 times higher than it used to be at the beginning of the year. Other coins (Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero, Dogecoin, Ripple, Bytecoin) showed significant increase as well. Nevertheless their increase in percetage is much bigger than Bitcoin's. The coins that weren't so popular and well-known as Bitcoin managed to rocket up more.

You probably want to ask me why I'm writing this? In my view, it's too late to try to earn large amounts of money with already well-known coins - their price is already high and very unlikely (in my opinion) that their price will multylpy in thousands or at least hundreds times in the future. However there are quite a lot of cheap and not famous currencies that have a potential to rise substantially. Remember - Bitcoin used to cost less than a penny at the beginning. Who knows, maybe there are some coins that will repeat Bitcoin's success?

And this is the main target of my blog - to publicate my personal coverage of such coins.  I'll try my best to do it at least weekly - I need some time to think of appropriate post - quality is better than quantity for me. So far I think the next post will be published on 26th of January.
