Real World Test of DCA vs. VCA in CryptoCurrency (Dollar Cost Averaging vs Cost Value Averaging)

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago

Which plan is best for long term crypto investing, considering it is a volatile market? DCA, CVA, HODL

I am going to experiment but debating whether to do this with BTC or ETH?

Ok... So starting mid June I am going to start a "Christmas Club Fund" and also do an experiment... Test DCA vs CVA... Dollar Cost Averaging vs Cost Value Averaging and compare that to HODL (not easy to test trading, with one person, since it is too dependent on skill or luck, both of which I lack)

*This is all independent of my crypto investments

26 weeks June 23 to December 15

DCA - via Coinbase $100 every Saturday into BTC; guaranteed $2,600 INVESTED; on December 15 balance will be variable.

CVA - via Gemini add $100 to my BTC balance every week... Week 1 - $100, week 2 add money or take profit so balance is $200, week 3 add money or take profit so balance is $300... Etc. Until December 15 guaranteed balance of $2,600 amount invested will be variable.

Then on December 22 convert all to USD and see which was better. Also compare to BTC price if just bought and held on June 23.
