Roger Ver and a few of his colleagues have recently come out saying that they are in the middle of a project to create a free society. Roger is a proclaimed voluntarist, meaning he believes all human interaction should be on a voluntary level. Meaning the only interactions that should be allowed should be those where both parties willfully agree to the terms. This roots back to a principle known by many libertarians: the non-agression principle. To sum it up, the non-aggression principle states that any action taken that requires aggression or force on others, is illegitimate and should be stopped. This principle is the main argument used by libertarians to show that if followed, societies could exist with no government.
Roger Ver and many others have made a ton of money off of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. So far, the project has $100 million to make sure this society is created. The plan currently is to negotiate with an existing government who holds a high national debt, to buy sovereign land. This land would then be used by the free society to live and conduct commerce however the members see fit. Though Roger's attorney advised him not to speak about what countries they are in talks with, he has said that the interest shown is much higher than expected.
The ideal land will be close to economic powerhouses such as the United States, The United Kingdom, and Asia. One of the problems with creating a free country in the past was being landlocked by unfriendly countries. You can look up Liberland as an example. For this reason, the land must be accessible by water. The government selling the land must be a stable government as well as having a constitution that allows granting sovereignty.
Essentially, this free society won't have much for laws, besides the non-aggression principle and a reasonable age of consent. To ensure there will be no breaking of the basic rules and violation of human rights, enforcement will be carried out by private security companies.
The plan to create a free society may not be perfect, but it is the right step to bringing us towards a world without governments. I have a very strong feeling in my heart that this is possible and in fact we would be in a much peaceful world if it were this way.
