“Bob’s Repair, A decentralized marketplace for the United States’ skilled trade industry”
In the United States the skills trade industry is estimated to be valued at $400 billion USD annually. Skilled trades include electricians, machinists, carpenters, HVAC mechanics, welders, plumbers, framers, and other trades needed for construction, renovations, and home repair.
In 2012 it was reported by EMSI that 53% of skilled-trade workers in the U.S. were 45 years and older; and 18.6% were between the ages of 55 and 64. The large number of retiring baby boomers working in skilled trades will put increased pressure on an already dire situation as the shortage in skilled trades is already acute. Moreover, this is exasperated by global construction activity in the international marketplace that competes for, and increases the demand for, skilled construction.
Bob’s Repair arrives just at the right time to help increase the efficiency of the home repair industry by using the blockchain. Their new decentralized marketplace will be built and allow for pricing transparency (it will prevent higher prices due to a lack of upfront pricing estimates which often tricks consumers into added repair costs), accurate user reviews (it will prevent home owners from basing repair decisions or service choices on false information due to reviewer fraud) and no advertising fees (it will combat hidden costs due to advertising in the home repair industry).
Bob’s Repair already has a well-established minimum viable product (MVP) in the United States. They have successfully run an automated SMS platform that connects consumers to contractors directly. This SMS matching has resulted in over $1 million USD in revenue and has helped to direct more than 50,000 service calls. As Bob’s Repair builds its ecosystem it can access and onboard over 55,000 consumers and contractors to its new blockchain platform and its Bob Application.
The Bob’s Repair Token and ICO
The pre-sale CO began on Jan. 4 2018 and ended Mar. 21, 2018, with a soft cap of 6,000 ETH and a hard cap of 30,000 ETH. The main ICO sale begins Apr. 4, 2018 and runs until May 4, 2018 but the ICO may end early if the main sale hard cap is reached earlier than expected. The total number of BOB tokens after the main sale ends is set at 360 million. The cost of the tokens is equivalent to 1 ETH = 6,000 BOB Tokens.
BOB tokens can be purchased during the ICO with bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), litecoin (LTC), DASH or fiat currency. As a form of re-investment dividend to token holders Bob’s Repair will retain 50% of the profits earned each quarter and purchase BOB tokens on the open market. These tokens will be burned, destroying them to decrease the overall number of tokens available (decreasing the token supply to add value to the remaining tokens in circulation increasing their value).
Summary
Bob’s Repair is an interesting ICO with a unique SMS matching system that will be scaled-up and transformed to the blockchain. Its new platform will allow customers to find needed home repair services at reduced costs. Using a decentralized blockchain with app that it will develop will decrease fraud and provide greater information and transparency for home repair.
