A good friend of mine shared an interesting website with me this morning: CryptoMiso. Since I am always looking for tools to analyse fundamentals and indicators of quality, I like this one!
Check this out
The graph basically shows the top 10 coins based on their Github commit history (based on most popular repo). A commit is a revision or an individual change to a file/set of files. It can be interpreted as an indicator of how active a particular project is when it comes to working on the code. I say 'can' because the number of commits does not say anything about the quality or difficulty of the commits. Nevertheless, it is something to take a quick look at when you are doing your research.
The graph tells us that some project have a very steady number of commits per week in the last year, while others show peaks in activity.
Interesting to see is that the number of commits on Cardano has relatively decreased a lot in the last months, but they are still doing quite some commits.
Waves shows quite a stable number of commits with exception or the last few weeks (I know that a big part of the Waves team was actually on holiday).
The number of commits of Lisk are showing an increase over time. Are they building up towards their rebranding event in February?
Also interesting to see are the projects that seem to be almost asleep for the last few months, like Particl.
There is a lot you can say about these number and it is important to not base conclusions solely on this data. It is about context and that requires more research that just number of commits.
The website shows the history of a whopping 325 cryptos so look around and pay attention to the coins you're invested in or are planning to invest in :-)
Enjoy!

Definitely worth some of your time. Personally I always take a look at a projects' Github before making any decision. Now that I know about this website, I'll probably check it every once in a while as well to see the patterns in activity in an easy way and relative to other projects.
By sharing this I hope people become more aware of the importance of looking for proof of activity instead of only looking at announcements on social media or price action. Projects can tweet all they want, but if their Github does not show activity I know it is at least shady :-)
It also helps to prevent the wrong hail mary's/moon shots people sometimes do on coins that are outside of the top 200. You might see some crazy increase in price of a certain project. But if the code hasn't been touched for a year, then you can be quite sure that it is just a pump and dump :-P

That's pretty interesting!
I know for some teams, like NEO, the github is actually not used in development much but rather to post the eventual result. This may be true for other projects also.
Still it's a good tool to get a global oversight on a project! Very nice find, thanks

That is a good point. Do you know whether NEO posts it somewhere else?

Thanks for sharing this @cryptotem. This link is definitely a best checkpoint before buying any coin.
I found one shady(Coin) in my portfolio because of the github history. it may not give accurate thing about what's going in the current projects., but we can get whether a project is active one or not. And how many contributes in the code base etc.
