Exodus is stopping Dogecoin support!

The Exodus wallet team have announced that on the 14th September 2017, support for Dogecoin will be removed from the Exodus wallet. Be sure that if you hold any Dogecoin, REMOVE them from Exodus before that date. If you don't then you risk not having access to them. For me this is a lesson worth learning. I have decided to stop using the Exodus wallet altogether in favour of options that allow me to hold my own keys.

I will be moving all assets out of Exodus and moving it to hardware wallets because the idea that a company can simply stop supporting a coin is worrying. I suggest you guys do the same!

Sad day indeed. Long live the Dogecoin!

Hpefully doge is replaced with ripple

dogecoin has been going downhill for a while now

It has, yeah. It's a shame because I like the history behind it.

thanks good info ..we have to look out for each other as the crypto world learns to stand on its own and grows .... there will be a lot to watch out for ....

Agreed, it's a joint effort.

exodus is not one of them, i promise the funds are safe with exodus, no one but you have can get thoose private keys, except if you get hacked with a key logger or it some strange mysterious hole in the exodus softwere that is jet to bee discoverd. And chance of that happening is almost zero, depends a bit on your security and your knowledge.

@cryptoviking thanks for this update. That means that Dogecoin is not a solid coin? Upped.

Well, yes and no. There hasn't been much work done on Dogecoin for a while now and it's been losing popularity. Up until now it's been used a lot for tipping people on Reddit and the like but now that Reddcoin is here and Redd ID is getting released soon Dogecoin could take a hit.

Hmmm it will then be a shit coin? bad for those who bought a lot of it.
Feel free to see my latest post this issue of Ponzi-thanks

You can export your keys, and they are stored encrypted when not exported. They can not remove that fuction from the wallet evan if they remove the suport for it, that would make millions of doge useless sitting in adresses un reachebel. One solution is to not update and store all the install files of the different versions and rollback if you need the funds. Or have old version on an other pc. So most likely you will not loose your funds if your nesscery precautions. :)

Doge has a very fun history behind it and surprised me that it became a currency with a sizeable market and value. I don't understand why Exodus is choosing to stop support, especially since any additional coin they support makes their platform more useful and look better. They must have their reasons though and it is good that they let us know this far ahead.

I hope dropping support for Doge is not about price development. If that is the case, this move sets a precedent for many other coins to be dropped by Exodus in the future. Yes, there will be bear years also.

Thank you for the heads up

Thanks for the heads up. I'll need to pull mine off Exodus. Why quit Exodus altogether? My understanding is that you can view your private keys within Exodus. I have not tried since I use Trezor for larger amounts and smaller in Exodus and Jaxx.

You can get the keys but I just don't need the wallet anymore. I have a hardware wallet and I never actually use shapeshift. Might as well just use my hardware wallet exclusively anyway it's way safer.
