Banks exist to make money for their shareholders. The banking system is one of the pillars of capitalism. I agree banks are not our friends. In general, a company is never going to be our friend if we are honest about what a company is.
What is your opinion on credit unions? On banks which are run by and owned by the members? Can cryptocurrency be tailored in such a way that we can get all the same benefits and services we expect from the banking sector without the corporate exploitation?
The reason I got into Bitcoin is I was upset about how I was treated by the traditional finance industry. A lot of debt, hard to get loans to start a business, high and unfair fees which seem to target the poor (and during recession).
I had my reasons for getting into crypto as I'm sure you had yours. That said Bitcoin is not "good" and banks are not "evil". Both are techniques to solve a legitimate problem of protecting and preserving people's wealth. Bitcoin does not solve every problem and neither do banks.
Bitcoin can easily be stolen, hacked, lost, it's a private key. Banks do have some rare advantages like insurance and legitimacy. But the disadvantages may outweigh many of the advantages which is why people gravitate to crypto and specifically decentralized finance. I do not know if Bitcoin or Ethereum is good enough technically at this time for what is needed.
