If steemit keep going the way its going i think it could be bought out by one of the big company, once it is being bought out steemit will go through the roof. So buy in now before it goes up. I think steemit could kill facebook and reddit, but youtube could do a lot with steemit too. What you think?

Hi dang007,

Steemit is a decentralized platform.

Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter are all centralized.

Therefore, it is unlikely that Steemit will be purchased by another big social media
because they will lose money on their own platforms.

Thanks :)

Well if they dont buy steem stock or coin they will lose anyway as more and more people come here to steemit. If i were the ceo of any of those i would cut the head off steem before it start getting too big, buy it do what google do to youtube, put ads on.

I believe Steemit.com itself can be bought, but the underlying STEEM platform cannot, because it would be like someone "buying the Bitcoin platform". It doesn't work like that. It would be more like someone buying Bitcoin.com, or Coinbase.com

As the STEEM economy increases, there will likely be strong alternatives to Steemit.com. There already is one in the form of the Esteem app, which I don't think has anything to do with Steemit.com at all.

But why someone would buy blockchain explorer?

its possible, it will happen when the crypto market cap is over a trillion

Yep... its certainly a possibility. It will be interesting how the would all merge and how the cryptocurrency would be utilised. But at the same time .... I route for the plucky under dog

How could they buy a decentralized blockchain? Isn't that the whole point that no one owns steemit? There are developers, but they don't own it, they develop it.

Ok

No, I think they need to concentrate 50% hashing power on steemit to take over. Owning 50% of the market share only means that you've got control of the market price if you so choose.
