Like me, those of you who've been using Genesis Mining, might be aware of the fact that payouts were frozen from 21st July onwards for about a week and a half, and continue to be missing. Upon emailing support, I learned that this was a technical issue, I just now looked at their blog and in a post from July 26th, they've actually explained the cause of the service outage. Here's an excerpt from their blog post:
"On the night of Friday July 21st, we detected an unauthorized intrusion by an attacker. This attacker gained access to a hot wallet and was able to transfer funds which we will reimburse in full. Shortly after the intrusion was detected, our team was able to shut down the attack. We immediately took steps to mitigate the issue, including enhancing our monitoring and detection capabilities, and further hardening our environment. One of those increased security measures was to delay our daily payouts.
We have found no evidence that sensitive end user information, including email addresses, were exposed by this incident. We also do not collect, store or have access to customers’ credit card details. We immediately engaged 3rd party cyber security advisory to investigate the attack, and validate that the measures we took to address this issue – and it’s those security practices that ensure that an issue like this remains isolated and resolvable.
We want to assure you that our mining operation was not affected and is running as normal. Every single one of our customers will receive their missing payouts as soon as we’re sure about the safety and integrity of our payment system. One of the advantages of the daily payout system is that it helps prevent actual losses, even in moments like these that cause delays."
So basically they were hacked and the hacker got hold of some wallet and stole some crypto. While it's good to see they're addressing this, they still have a dreadful and awful customer service and I will not advocate for them nor will I buy an additional contract with them. In fact I already regret wasting $850 on getting an Ethereum contract with them and advise everyone to stay away and invest in something better.

The f's wrong with this bot always after me! There are a tonne of people who're actually plagiarizing and spamming blatantly and getting away with it! As a matter of fact, this stupid bot missed how I linked to the original post twice in this post! And I also put the excerpt in quotes! This is beyond unfair!

How much did you invest? I'm just glad my $4000+ payment for the DASH contract failed! I would've regretted that even more lol

Fingers crossed they can resolve everything back to square one again.. i wouldnt use them again, after seeing a hack happened. companies though they work hard when it comes to keeping upto date on latest security.. its not an easy thing to do, when new exploits come out per hour.. but having a bad tech support is really bad business.. if you can get back 100% losses.. i'd use the other methods for increasing.. buy low and sit on it. :)

Yep agree 100%! I wanted to give them a shot, and will never return to them for their poor customer service. It is times as such when customer service is really put to the test, and in my eyes they've not lived up to the expectations.

Why don't you try an exchange like Gemini or Bitfinex and actually buy/sell as the crypto falls or gains in value? That's the best way to go about it! Everything else is to feed off of peoples' greed and naivety.
