I've been mining $ETC on my Windows 10 Desktop with an NVIDIA 1070 GPU and so can you!
You would be surprised how quickly you can start mining Ethereum Classic on your home computer.
We are assuming that you have a Windows computer with an AMD or NVIDIA GPU.
Why Mine Ethereum Classic?
Ethereum Classic uses the Dagger Hashimoto algorithm which lends itself to GPU mining.
In early June 2018, Coinbase announced that it would be adding Ethereum Classic to its popular platform.
Has your ETC Miner Recently Been Acting Up?
If you are already familiar with the basics of GPU mining but need to update your Claymore Miner Version after $ETC's DAG epoch 200 we have a more advanced tutorial for you.
Please visit this tutorial on how to update your Claymore Miner Version.
Now for the newbies, let's begin!
PRO TIP: Before we get started make sure that you have deactivated your Antivirius' "LIVE SCAN" feature. (for more advanced users, you can just add the directory and files below to the exceptions area of your Antivirus software).
NOTE: This tutorial will use nanopool.org as the mining pool.
You will also need an $ETC Wallet Address. There are many options out there.
STEP 1: Download the latest version of the Claymore Miner software at this link:
If you are using a Windows 10 operating system, be sure to download the most recent ".zip" version as shown in the image below:
Unzip the file to a folder on your computer. It look something like the image below. The key files here are the "epools.txt" and the "start.bat" files. Those are the two that we are going to edit in the next step.
STEP 2: Right Click on the "Start.bat" file and click "Edit":
Erase the preexisting default text and copy and paste the information below into your batch file:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool etc-us-west1.nanopool.org:19999 -ewal Your-ETC-Wallet-Address.Your-Rig-Name/Your-email.com -epsw x -mode 1 -ftime 10
Your "start.bat" file should look like this:
STEP 3: Right Click on "epools.txt" and click "edit":
Again, erase the preexisting default text and enter the following information:
POOL: etc-us-east1.nanopool.org:19999, WALLET: Your-ETC-Wallet-Address.Your-Rig-Name/Your-Email.com, PSW: x, WORKER: , ESM: 0, ALLPOOLS: 0
POOL: etc-eu1.nanopool.org:19999, WALLET: Your-ETC-Wallet-Address.Your-Rig-Name/Your-Email.com, PSW: x, WORKER: , ESM: 0, ALLPOOLS: 0
POOL: etc-eu2.nanopool.org:19999, WALLET: Your-ETC-Wallet-Address.Your-Rig-Name/Your-Email.com, PSW: x, WORKER: , ESM: 0, ALLPOOLS: 0
POOL: etc-asia1.nanopool.org:19999, WALLET: Your-ETC-Wallet-Address.Your-Rig-Name/Your-Email.com, PSW: x, WORKER: , ESM: 0, ALLPOOLS: 0
Your epools.txt file should look like this:
Tutorial Notes:
This tutorial uses the nanopool.org mining pool. You can select another pool if you like, but I personally have had a lot of success with nanopool.
They are reliable and take a fair 1% pool fee.
Nanopool also allows me to set the minimum payout to 0.1 $ETC. I like this because I get quicker payouts.
You can get more information on using nanopool at this link https://etc.nanopool.org/help .
Also, please select a pool location that is closest to you:
