I just read a news article today pointing to some tweets by the famous hacker and megaupload founder Kimdotcom where he states that he is actively working on a new social media site.
Apparently he is fed up with the likes of facebook, youtube, and especially twitter and plans to do something about it. You can take a look at his tweets here: https://twitter.com/KimDotcom
He specifically mentions the project here: https://twitter.com/KimDotcom/status/1057126383921446913

I'm pretty curious to see how this plays out, and if he actually does end up launching some new decentralized, blockchain based, crypto rewarded social media site. I did see somewhere that he mentioned it will be rewarded with crypto, but I'm not sure how it will work. I read that human content moderators will be rewarded with crypto for volunteering to help keep the site clean and free of illegal stuff, not sure if that would be paid in btc, eth, something else??? He is also saying free speech guaranteed so not sure how that will work, but it seems interesting at the least!
When I first heard about Steemit I literally dropped what was doing (watching a youtube video by @lukewearechange) when and started searching about Steemit, and within a few hours I had my account and made my first post.
I think it was extremely important that I joined when I did, because I got into this place a lot earlier than a lot of people, and that gave me a big advantage. The reason I did that is because I watched things like facebook, twitter, instagram, and other social medias as they emerged, grew, and became super important to things like business. I watched them with a curiosity, not seeing or acknowledging how important and impactful they would be, and I kick myself all the time for not taking the time to work on them when they were young.
I decided a long time ago that I wasn't ever going to let the next facebook, or twitter, or instagram pass me by. I was going to jump on it immediately and get that early mover's advantage, and when I first saw Steemit, I knew that this was an opportunity. So I tried the same thing when I saw this new thing from Kimdotcom, but for the life of me I can't find anything more than his tweets about it, so I guess it's still just a closed project that he is working on.
Well I'm gonna do my best to keep up with it, and see where it goes. You never know if things like this will explode or just crash and burn.
What do you think? Have you heard of Kimdotcom's new social site?

I wish we could just get him as a developer, or even just promote Steemit! But I'm sure he's got his own thing going in the works.

I agree! Who knows where it will go, hopefully it could even give Steemit a boost as it helps to mainstream crypto platforms :)
