Projecting My Hopes and Dreams onto Crypto

I work a boring job. I'm a software developer, and I work on an old WPF desktop app. It is a sloppy, sprawling codebase, and I am totally bored. I have ADD as well, so boredom is death.

I sit all day with various blockchain and cryptocurrency ideas rushing through my head and I can't concentrate on what I'm supposed to be working on. I would love to quit and to try my damndest to make it on my own, to start one of the many project I keep thinking about, and to see what happens.

But I can't. I have a 7 month old son and a wife, and a mortgage (amongst many other bills and expenses) to pay every month. So I rot away in my cubicle. I worry every day that I'm going to get fired for not being productive enough, because I can see my productivity dropping as I get more engrossed in the crypto space.

The truth is that I have other dreams and aspirations beyond software. Nothing to do with money or material success; other, higher dreams. But I can't pursue them, I just don't have the time.

I think that blockchain and cryptocurrency, with all their promise, has become a canvas onto which I am projecting my dreams. I don't dream of lambos, I dream of having the time to pursue what I want to pursue, to be free of the 9-5 prison I feel trapped in, and to be able to follow my path instead of a corporation's path for me. So I look at the exploding crypto space and I fantasize about striking it rich somehow. Some way, some how. Investing. Trading. Coding. Steeming. Something - there has to be a way to make money here, even just enough so that I could afford to quit my job for a couple years and try to make it on my own, full time...

But the reality is not so clear. It's a new world, this blockchain world, and it's young and immature. It's full of mystery and the unknown future. And it might not mean any lambos for me, or for anyone. But it's alright to dream, isn't it?
