Hello folks!
I was introduced to the Vericoin and Verium Binary Chain in December 2017 while looking for a cpu-friendly coin to mine, and after discovering the possibilities of this project, I have acquired a small stack of Vericoins to stake, and I've even got a small stack of Odroids to mine Verium and secure the chain.
What piqued my interest was the concept of having a fast coin for day-to-day transactions, combined with a POW store-of-value coin that also helps to secure the network. On top of that, several features are planned, including privacy, and
While the project has successfully rolled out transacting both coins (Vericoin/VRC and Verium/VRM) on the same chain, there are still several major milestones to roll out later this year. I'll speak about those milestones in a later post; I want to get back to the point of this account.
Of late, I've seen an influx of newcomers who have expressed much keenness in mining Verium, and I thought that I'd write up several posts on how to compile the miner for OSX, the differences between using the Vault and joining a mining pool, as well as some resources to get in touch with fellow enthusiasts and investors.
- First up, the slack channel. There are many channels in there, from mining, trading and support for issues with the wallets.
- The Reddit sub is another avenue that's grown a fair bit over the last month. Of key interest in the sub is the right side panel (If you are on mobile - request the desktop version of reddit) - there will be links to the various mining pools and groups there.
- If you are up on bitcointalk, there's a forum post there too.
- There's also a fairly active YouTube channel. I'd like to point you at their latest video, which covers the development of the project over 2017.
- Finally, there is also a Telegram group that I find more geared towards general chat and price discussion.
For those interested in acquiring VRC or VRM (or any cryptocurrency, really) - head over to Coinmarketcap, find your coin via the Search box, and then click on markets. That will bring up the main list of exchanges that you can purchase or swap at.
The Vericoin project has a bit of legacy with it, having started years ago and was at one time near the top of the charts at coinmarketcap. I haven't got up to speed with the trials and tribulations of the project over the years, but from what I've read from their roadmap and project strategy, I think that Vericoin and Verium is not one of those projects that hype things up for the sake of pumping value into the coin.
They seem to prefer to work quietly and only announce things after they've got definite answers, and are very transparent with what their plans are. For example, in the reddit sub they were clear on which exchanges they were trying to list on, and why some were out of the question at this time.
These kind of actions taken by the team, as well as the goals being achieved gives me confidence that the Vericoin and Verium have a vision in mind, and that they are taking concrete steps to make it happen.
With the new year looming ahead, I wish the Vericoin and Vermium team the very best, and I am looking to the day when the binary chain is fully up and running.
