Top 100 Cryptos Explained (11th-20th): IOTA, Monero, Dash, ETC, NEO, Binance, NEM, Vechain, Tezos, ZCash

IOTA (MIOTA)

IOTA is an open-source distributed ledger that concentrates machine to machine economy mostly micropayments between machines.

IOTA is unique since it doesn't use blockchain like most cryptocurrencies. IOTA uses the Tangle which is a The Direct Acyclic Graph or, DAG - the main difference are no transaction fees making it perfect to machine to machine payments.

My opinion: IOTA is very unique, has great partnerships and very promising future if the development is lead properly. One of the most solid choices from this list.

Monero (XMR)

Open-source cryptocurrency created in April 2014 under the name BitMonero, that focuses on privacy, decentralisation and scalability. Just as Bitcoin, Monero is focusing to be used as a payment system.

However unlike Bitcoin, Monero is focusing on privacy and anonymity - something that Bitcoin doesn't really offer.

My opinion: Monero is still one of the most solid (in my opinion the best) anonymous cryptocurrency choices if you believe that privacy coins will have use cases in the future.

Dash (DASH)

Dash is a peer-to-peer digital currency that was created based on Satoshi Nakamoto’s work Bitcoin in January 2014 with the original name XCoin. It was later rebranded to Darkcoin and then Dash in 2015. It is introducing some improvements over Bitcoin.

Amongst the improvements are masternodes that encourage holding, privacy, lower fees and quicker (almost instant) transactions.

My opinion: I personally don't see the appeal in Dash. It doesn't offer enough improvements over Bitcoin and for anonymous transactions Monero is better.

Ethereum Classic (ETC)

Ethereum Classic is a form of normal Ethereum (ETH). Just like Ethereum it is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform and operating system featuring smart contract functionality.

Unlike Ethereum, Ethereum Classis doesn't have many dapps or ICOs using the platform which is why the valuation is currently much lower.

My opinion: I personally find Ethereum a far better option since Ethereum is actually used. Also the fact that ETC is developed by Cardano developers means that it will always be a 'second priority project'

NEO (NEO)

NEO, formally Antshares is often called 'Chinese Ethereum' and that's because they are both smart contract development platforms which are attempting to bring blockchain to the masses

NEO offers some technological advances over Ethereum including usage of several programming languages, different consensus mechanism and GAS generation which encourages holding.

My opinion: NEO is one of the safer blockchain choices, I think the valuation is quite low compared to the likes of Cardano, EOS or ETC and it rewards holding too.

Binance Coin (BNB)

Binance Coin is a cryptocurrency launched by the biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the world: Binance. The aim of BNB is to support the exchange.

My opinion: Seems like one of the best exchange related coins and one of the safer alts in the bear market. Keep in mind that the fee reduction will be lower in the future.

NEM (XEM)

NEM is an smart asset platform that's built for performance and very high customisability which allows the users to modify NEM blockchain to fit their needs.

My opinion: It's certainly a solid option for people looking for more stable investments but I think platforms like Dragonchain or Stratis have more potential in terms of growth. Ethereum and NEO are further in development on the other hand.

Vechain (VET)

VeChain is a global enterprise level public blockchain platform that aims to connect blockchain technology to the real world through smart chip used to track items throughout their lifecycle.

Vechain has several significant partnerships with companies from different industries including luxury goods, agriculture, logistics and food/drug.

My opinion: Vechain is my biggest holding and hope - they seem to be doing very well so far. The partnerships are the strongest point and I love the reward for holding

Tezos (XTD)

Tezos is trying to create a self-governing blockchain platform featuring smart contracts. It's similar to Ethereum in many ways but does include some theoretical improvements.

My opinion: Tezos claims to be one of the few upcoming 'next gen' blockchains similar to EOS or Cardano but I feel the current valuation is based too much on hype.

Zcash (ZEC)

Zcash is a decentralized and open-source cryptocurrency that offers privacy and selective transparency of transactions. Basically Bitcoin but with privacy option through something called zk-SNARK.

My opinion: Zcash some some qualities but I feel that Monero offers more since the anonymity is not an option

Not a financial advice.
